Our trip is planned for 2/7/2004 - 2/14/2004 with President's day being on 2/16 in 2004. I understand that President's Week is a crowded time at Disney World. Should I expect increasing crowds during the week or will the crowds only come after we leave?

Why is it that President's Week is a high attendance time?

Thanks!

 I have wondered the same thing! We'll be there that week as well, so I hope someone can help!
:)

President's week has high attendance because most of the schools here in the northeast have off. Anything to get away from the cold!!!

We are going 2-6 to 2-15 and staying at WL! Very excited already! Wondered about the crowd thing too, if the crowds are bigger the week before or just the week of President's Week. Weather too?!

Last year we went the week before presidents week, it was crowded but we were able to get around for the most part. The park hours were extended everyday we were there. On Friday, MK was scheduled to close at 7 and I believe they closed at 11. Around Thursday folks were really pouring into the hotels and parks. We still had a good time, I would suggest getting to all your must see attractions early in the week, crowds will be building.

My dad has a time share during that time, from the Friday form president's day, to that following Friday. I have gone with them 2x and never will again. It's too crowded. Just be prepared for that.

Everyone here is saying Presidents WEEK?? I know the Presidents DAY but which week is considered the WEEK (before or after). Do schools up north actually have a week off during this time??

We too are going 2/8-13 at the VWL.

The week that we have off is the week beginning with President's Day. We go every year at this time.

Here in Pike County Pennsylvania, we only get 2 half days off before the holiday (Thurs. & Fri.), plus the holiday itself. We also do not get a spring break nor a midwinter break (we get 10 days at Christmas). However, because we start school earlier than some of the New England states, we also get out of school earlier in June. (And we will be heading to WDW the next week!)

Because of this, I opted to take the kids out of school for the first 2 weeks this year, and it has worked out fine. They are all caught up now.

We went 2/13-2/20 this year and it wasn't that bad. Thursday, Friday and Saturday weren't too crowded, but Sunday and Monday were pretty packed. Still, FPs were available and they made the days manageable. After Monday night, many of the crowds left and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday were fine, in fact ToT only had a 5 minute wait around 11am. We were there over NYE so those intense crowds may have made us think President's Week wasn't bad, and another factor was that 2/16-17 was the big blizzard in the northeast (we were supposed to go home 2/17, but our flight was cancelled and we couldn't get home till 8pm on 2/20) and so that kept some people out of Florida. We had many people at ASMu saying that their kid's dance/band/etc. team got snowed in and would be 2 days late and stuff like that. So that may have helped some of the crowds since the northeast is where kids don't have school that week and since flights were cancelled at ariports from VA - MA, I'm sure a lot of people missed their trips. We got up early everyday and had a PS for every meal we ate and we were fine with the crowds.
