Presidents Day weekend - what to expect?

So I chose the third weekend in February for our first Disney trip because my daughter has the Friday and Monday off school. We'll be at the park Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, (4-day park hopper) Monday being the holiday. Being Canadian, and unfamiliar with US holidays (we don't have any holiday weekends in February), I booked the trip before learning that it just happened to be the only holiday in February .

I'm hoping that since its still February, the weekend won't be too too crazy but I'm wondering if I'm wrong...

Can you Disney pros let me know what we should expect? Having 4 days should provide plenty of time to ride everything but it would be tough to have to stand in line for a lot of that time.

Help!

Hi Carla! I'll be watching the responses you get to this thread, because I'm planning for the same weekend!

Thanks in advance to the Disneyland Pros who can help us to prepare...

Ditto! We are going to be at the parks on Thursday and Friday (17th & 18th) and was curious as what to expect for crowd levels. We leave on Saturday so that won't be an issue for us.

We went this year on the same weekend. We were there for the entire week before and most rides were walk on so when saturday hit, it seemed like it was really crowded. Nothing like what was going on with the crowds now. I think if you get in early and get your FP's for later in the day you should be OK. Keep in mind that ROA was drained and that meant quite a few attractions were closed as well a few other things. Be prepared for some attractions to be closed for refurb.
It is a great time to go if you are from Canada(like me).days were warm enough for a t shirt and a hoodie at night. Love love love California.

We did the same weekend this year and it was busy, compared to other weekends that month, but like it was said before, it is much better than a summer weekend or Christmas/Thanksgiving. We got there on Thursday morning and it was awesome, small waits if any, but when Friday afternoon and Saturday rolled around it was much busier than Thursday, therefore feeling crazy. When compared to our June/July trip of 2010, it wasn't so bad back in Feb.... ;) Just be prepared and have fun...

Thanks guys! That's encouraging. I've only ever been to Disney in the summer or over Spring Break so if its quieter than that, than I'm happy :cool1:!

I notice that the whole weekend is blocked to AP's, not sure if that makes a difference. Didn't seem to this week that's for sure.

I as well will be there that weekend. I've been before during the weekend. It's crowded but with 4 days, if you have a good plan, you should definitely be able to get the stuff done that you want.

I would recommend planning out the mornings of each day (hitting the popular rides/the rides you really want to ride) as well as which night you want to see which nighttime show (Fantasmic, World of Color, fireworks) and allot a decent amount of waiting time for each. For the middle of the day, just play it by ear, use FP a lot, and you should be fine. :thumbsup2

And yes, it's quieter than summer/Spring Break but not by much.

I'm kicking myself because here I thought I was picking a quiet time going with February... why didn't I think to check to see if it was a US holiday :confused3 .

Ah well, we'll make the best of it! I'm sure my girls won't even notice with all the excitement.

and the longest line was space mountain and it was only 45min.. some of rides we just a little wait ..

Sounds awesome! Thanks for asking the question, Carla!:thumbsup2
