Presidents Day? If so does this sound like a good plan?

Hi! My name is Olivia and I'm planning my birthday trip to Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. Because of my theater and school, when I can go is limited. I was looking at going February 15th-19th. The only problem is this is President's Day weekend. The reasoning is we want cool weather, it's one of the few times I don't have a show, and I get two days off of school. I have heard many mixed things about this time crowd wise. How are the crowds compared to the second week of June? I don't mind if there are some, because we love to use Fastpass and Single rider, but would prefer less and don't want it to be mobbed. I think we will stay at the Swan, a moderate resort, or the Floridan. We plan on not using too many extra magic hour days because we usually don't use the hours and the park seems busier in the day. Does this itinerary below sound like a good plan?

Friday- EPOCT (extra magic hour day, but this seems like the best day)
Saturday- Magic Kingdom
Sunday- Islands of Adventure
Monday- Universal Studios, possible Disney park later in day
Tuesday- Hollywood Studios or EPOCT

Thank You!:earsboy:

We went during that week last year for m DS's Birthday. Our school is off during that week every year. We have been during times that have been very busy. I will tell you that up until that trip, I had never seen it so HORRIBLE! It was miserable with the crowds of people. It didn't matter what park. It was elbow to elbow. I know for us, we will NEVER go back then. If you are able to figure out something else, I would consider it. If it means not getting to go, then I guess I would just go and make the most of it. Best wishes!

When we went a few years ago at that same time the crowds were the same as end of June, I'd even say worse than mid-June. We decided to NEVER go then again. As you can see from my signature we often go in June and just found Pres week to be harder to manage. The weather was so cold and wet then that it could have contributed to how we perceived it.

Overall, if it were the ONLY time we could go, we would because going in crowds and cold weather is still better than not going at all.

Thanks for the warnings! I think I may try another time. Last time we went the second week of June, and it was not too bad. We just made the mistake of going to the parks when it was extra magic days. Plus this time we can go the first week. I really wanted cooler weather, but I think the only other option would be spring break of March 13th-17th. Thank you so much for personal stories.

Of the weeks you have avalable, early June is still the best, crowd-wise; the earlier in June, the better.

Weather-wise, mid March would be best, but you would be going in the middle of Spring Break season, and the parks will be busier than the 1st half of June.

If it was me, I'd stick with June.

I agree that June would be MUCH better. You should be able to go and enjoy the parks without being on top of others. Have a fantastic time!

Thank you for the input and help! Unless I find another day to get school off without missing too much June it is =) My grade does not have to take a certain standardized state test, so it may be easy to miss those days of schools in late April. It just matters if our test is at the same time or not. This would be late April just waiting for the dates.

We have been traveling to Florida in February for president's week for over 10 years now. The only year we didn't go was 2010 (we went to CA in April that year). The Florida weather is typically fantastic for this week. We usually get at least half the days in the eighties if not all and tons of sun. That compares nicely to the snow storm or 20 degree weather we leave behind in New England for the same week. As for the crowds, we usually only do the parks for a single day now and just hang by the resort all day and enjoy the sun and activities. Our 2013 trip is all booked. June is beautiful in New England so I would never travel to Florida then.

Good luck.
