In NYC and the surrounding burbs, we get the whole Presidents week off from school.

In the past we used this week to go to Washington DC or Philly.

But with the buy 4 get 3 and the $200 gift card, maybe we should do WDW.

But I am afraid it going to be crowded.

Are your schools off for the whole week also?

Our school has a week off in February and then a week of near the end of April, so they have essentially two spring breaks-- except we usually have snow for both of them.

I don't really understand it. They go to school through the last week of June. I wish they would do away with the Feb break and get out of school earlier.

We're in MA, and we have the whole President's Week off as well.

That first weekend will likely be very busy, and the crowds may start to taper off by Tuesday or Weds, but it could be fairly crowded.

Totally agree with Debster. We go every President's Day week from the Boston area.

What we do usually is fly out a few days early and hit the parks. Kids miss a couple school days but since they are all good students it has not been a problem. By the time the crowds arrive that first weekend we have already done a couple parks.

This year we fly out on Tuesday night so the kids will miss Wed-Fri. Would have liked to have left later in the week by a day or two, but the airfare was too good on Tuesday.

We only have 1 day off- President's Day itself. I have never attended or had my DD attend a school system where we got President's Week off.

The weird holiday DD has several days off for this coming year is MLK Day. They always had just 1 day, MLK Day itself. This coming year, though, her school system is giving them Monday, MLK Day, then the Friday of that week AND the following Monday. They have just a 3 day school week that week. We decided to go to WDW on vacation then- we will have a 10 night trip, 1/16- 1/26, and DD will only miss 3 instructional days.

Our school shows "President's Day" as a holiday, but it's not always the official holiday date....they move it to the Monday before Mardi Gras as we get three days off that week (Mon-Wed)

We will be there the 7-14th. Will we miss most of the crowds? I hope so. My DSs aren't in school yet and I forgot about it when I made the reservations. Thanks.

I don't think schools here in WI even get one day off for Presidents day. At least when I was still in school 6.5 years ago we never got Prez Day off. We never even got MLK Day off. Now I believe they do (at least the public schools- I went to a private school).

Have fun for those who are going then. It'll probably be awhile before I get back to WDW.

we just get off the one day here in northeast PA. and if it snows too much before then it may be a snow makeup day.

We have the entire week off but I have class that Thursday that I can't miss. We are taking my DD8 out of school for the Th. and Fr before vacation so tha we can get a whole week in AND I can get back in time for class Thurs. night.
We did the buy 4/get 3 plus the $200. Hopefully we'll have a couple slow days before Pres. Day but I have read that it's not too bad that week.

still on the fence 'cause of the airfare... also rent a cars are super expensive.

may drive.... but driving is a drag...

but I need my disney fix...

We have the Feb. Pres day break, then spring break, and get out first week of June. Not too bad if you ask me ;)

I voted for "never heard of it" (but of course I have) because our kids don't get out for President's Day. They get out for Mardi Gras instead (anywhere from 2-5 days depending on the district).

Sometimes MG falls during the same week as PD. Most of the people I know around here who go to WDW go during that time. When MG has the week to itself they claim it's not too bad, but when they share with PD, I have heard it can be extremely crowded.

We don't get Presidents' day off in Wisconsin, but, we are going to Disney World from February 18-25, and, are worried about the same thing.... With 4 little kids I can just imagine them in long lines.... I pity all of the other families that have to listen to them... LOL.
