Hi,

When flying do you have to pack your prescriptions in the original bottles with your name on them or can you use a pill holder? I get mine in 90 days bottles so they are not super convenient to pack. I would prefer to just pack my weeks worth in a pill holder and leave the rest at home. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

44 days!! :tigger:

Here is the link to what the TSA has to say: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/special-procedures

I fly frequently and never bring my meds in their original labeled pharmacy bottles. I put mine in the 7 day plastic pill container things (like you've suggested) and have never had any trouble. I also bring a travel size bottle of motrin and that's never been a concern. Some folks will suggest that you have to leave the meds in labeled bottles so that you're above suspicion for transporting illegal narcotics, etc. Right. Because no one ever thought that putting an illegal drug in a pharmacy bottle labeled for Omeprozole might work. All of your stuff is subject to search.

If a controlled substance, especially class A, have local pharmacy you use print a label on smaller bottle.

The only time I've taken the original bottles is when I went to India and no one ever looked at them. I've probably flown over a 100 times domestic and my pill box was never questioned. I even asked TSA after 9/11 and they said no problem.

Liquid medications would have to be labeled.

Singapore and Australia were the only two that ever peeked at dh's medication. Australia only bc it's only legal with Rx, and it's an unusual one for men to take with a prescription. Singapore because Singapore. :)

Domestically, you're OK. I agree about asking your pharmacy for a small labelled bottle for any controlled drugs.

International travel is a different matter, since you're dealing with Customs rather than airport security. I always bring my medications in pharmacy labelled containers (or the original packaging) when travelling abroad, and I've had Customs look closely at some of them on numerous occasions. Don't assume that every country allows the same drugs as the US does.

I don't take any prescription meds, but I take OTC meds for allergies as well as a multivitamin. I always take my pills in a weekly pill box thing and no one has ever even looked at it.

i get my scripts from Walgreens.
when i travel, i use the 7 day pill containors also.
but, i have Walgreens print out the basics on the meds to keep with me in case of any issues with TSA or if i lose my meds
(can get them refilled easily then)

what is printed is the basic info for what it is, doctor, etc.
non of the other wording is listed on the sheet.
