Prepurchase ticket without park-hopper option-can you change to hopper option on site

We are thinking of buying tickets in advance through the Canadian Automobile Association (essentially the same as buying from AAA) a 4 day WDW (magic your way) ticket, without the park hopper option.

Once we show up on site, can we (for the $50 per ticket) simply switch to the park-hopper option?

The general theory seems to be you can always give Disney more money, you just can't get any back.

I think you should be able to do it at the parks when you first arrive. What might be safest is to enter the first park, then later in the day when you want to park hop, go to Guest Services and ask them to add the park hopping feature before you leave that park. In other words, use the tickets once first to lock in the price, then add the extra features, days, etc.

I've heard that sometimes when you have purchased tickets from an outside source, if they are completely unused you end up paying the difference between the outside price and the Disney price as well as the upgrade cost. That's why I suggest using them first, then upgrading.

As out current President likes to say, Yes, you can!

You can upgrade your tickets (add the hopper option or the water parks and more option or more days) at any Ticket Sales or Guest Relations window at the four theme parks or Downtown Disney. You can't do it at the resorts.

You do not have to do it on the first day of your trip. That being said, if you go 3 days w/o hopping and on the 4th day decide to park hop you will still pay the $50 per person (over the age of 2).
