Preparation and size of Cobb salad at Hollywood Brown Derby

The Cobb salad and the Hollywood Brown Derby were standards of our WDW trips for many years. Sometimes we’d go to the Brown Derby twice in a trip just to get this salad. Over the years we noticed that the portion size got smaller and smaller even though we ordered what was then the entrée version of the salad. It was so bad that on our last visit to this restaurant, we seriously considered ordering three salads between the two of us so we could get the portion size they used to serve.

On our last couple of trips we also noticed that they stopped chopping the greens and just served them shredded. (They might have changed the type of greens as well, but my palette is not refined enough to know for sure.)

Do any recent visitors know if they’ve gone back to chopping the greens rather than just shredding them? If you have visited the Hollywood Brown Derby over the years, do you know if they’ve continued to reduce the portion size?

Thanks for any updates you can provide!

I was there in November and the greens were chopped! I had never had it prior so I can't compare the size, but the greens were chopped finely.

In November, the size was bigger than the half size they use to serve as an appetizer, but it might have been a little smaller then the entree size that I first bought it in 2012. However, everything has gotten smaller since then, except my weight. I think the greens were the same. Romaine I think. I didn't notice the cut/texture being any different. I know they don't toss it tableside anymore, which I thought they used to do when we first went.

I had it tonight. It seemed finely chopped and the size was more than I needed. I had nothing to compare it to at Disney other than one I had at Olivias at OKW years ago which blew this Brown Derby Cobb salad out of the water. I was not impressed. It was completely doused in dressing which is probably why I couldn’t even attempt to finish it.

I don't remember it ever changing as far as portion size except that they used to have an appetizer size. The regular one, I can barely eat all of it. If you feel like you have to order three salads to feed two people, that's a lot of salad. I go at least once a year, every year, last time in December 2021. I do remember it eventually became hit or miss as to whether they would mix it for you. With the current supply issues, it's possible for a time that they couldn't source the same ingredients.

I had it over Easter and I believe the greens were more finely chopped. It was not a huge salad, but plenty for lunch for me. I didnt leave hungry but I didn’t have that “I’m going to burst because I’m so full and now I am going to sit in 90 degree weather and feel gross”
