Prepaid sim only phone plan for America

Hi there,

We're traveling soon to the Hawaii and starting to look into sim only phone plans for whilst we are away for around 2 weeks. We are looking for something no more than $50 with good data coverage so I can use the GPS on my iphone and a few phone calls but mainly data. Are there any companies you can recommend?

I got a sim through mobipassport and it was great. All set up before we left and when I turned it on at LAX it was working. I don't know if it will help with GPS though, we didn't add a data plan

Our travelgear SIM cards arrived a few weeks back. We got a Samsung Galaxy and an Iphone cards prepaid for a month. We were able to tell them the date we arrive and they should be active as we step off the plan at LAX.

I have a Samsung and am under a plan (the phone is locked). but called my provider (Vodafone) and they are unlocking it so I can buy a SIM card overseas.

if you go to bestbuy they have a good range of prepaid sims and they will register them for you on the spot. just be sure phones are unlocked and use
viber when you have wifi coverage as thats free.

where are you staying in hawaii? considering a last minute trip in january

Getting data was the main problem I faced last time I was there, but it hopefully has changed in the last 2 years. Best Buy is a great place to get one when you get there.

I just purchased a AT&T sim from mobipassport as drs require my phone number while away so couldn't do it in the us plus this way I won't have issues if AT&T don't feel like selling me one (which I've read they like to do) $60 plan and I get 2gb of data
