I know the preferred rooms are closer to the main building, bus etc... But how much closer? It will cost us an extra $200 for our stay of 5 nights, to stay in a Preferred room. Is it really worth it?

Just bumping for input. How much extra walking time are we talking? Like 3 minutes vs. 5 minutes, or 5 minutes vs. 10 minutes?

We stayed at Movies last year and it only was preferred because we got a discount.
It was great, very close to the main building, plus my fav. movie theme (Fantasia), etc.
but is not worth it to pay that much for preferred room in my opinion... I wouldn't do it to be honest

Something to keep in mind about the All Stars and preferred, too... in my experience the preferred rooms are loud and busy, with people constantly walking by your room (or yelling, cheering, screaming) We never pay extra for preferred at any resort, but I think the preferred at the All Stars has a lot of negatives and the only positive would be a slightly shorter walk.

I don't think it's worth paying extra for a preferred room. We don't mind walking at all so having a room that is farther away from the main building just isn't a big deal for us.

Don't do it, it's a waste of money. We had a preferred room back in Jan and it was super loud. the music and screams from the pool created a lot of noise, we were in the Fantasia section.

The difference at the all stars isn't huge. I wouldn't pay extra. It really didn't feel like that much more of a walk, 3-5 minutes maybe. I would however pay extra for preferred at a moderate. most are very spread out, and the extra cost is worth it.

Been on 30+ trips and have never paid for a preferred room, Values or Mods and I go to the QS area frequently during our stays and I am also talking about bringing back breakfast for 4 to our room as well:)

I always pay for preferred at the values. To me, it is worth the relatively small cost per day to save that additional walking. I like being close to the bus stop, and being able to pop over to the food court for a drink without it taking 20 minutes round trip.
