We are trying to figure out if preferred parking for MK is worth it. either way you have to monorail over to the entrance. unless the ferri is quicker? i’m not sure. but doesn’t paying the extra for preferred make this a much quicker experience? thanks so much for any info

If you're there before opening, no. You're parked next to preferred parking, if you arrive later it will save you walking time

I don't understand the above answer? Wouldn't parking in preferred make the walk shorter in the lot? That would save time.

If you're there first thing in the morning they park regular priced parking close to the preferred so it's not worth it.
Later in the morning they start parking further away so preferred parking is worth it

Can anyone tell me how much extra preferred parking costs?

If you are an on-site resort guest that gets free parking at the parks (or AP or DVC etc) they will deduct that $25 and just have you pay the difference to upgrade. So your choice would be free regular parking or the extra $20 or so for preferred.
I am and that makes it much more attractive. Thanks!!

To me, this is one of the least "worth it" upsells at Disney. Getting to MK is such a long process, any savings by parking in preferred is minimal, especially if you get to the lot fairly early.

So I dropped my husband and boys off today at the entrance to Contemporary then drove around to the parking. They didn't let anyone enter the lot until very late. My boys were already first in line at Space Mountain while I was getting a parking space - and I was one of the first in. So the parking at MK will get you very little early bird status.

I can't speak for right now, but back in late October we were in the very next lot from preferred at every park. The difference in walking was negligible...definitely not worth the cost.

We just got back yesterday from Disney. Preferred parking would have been a waste. We got there a few minutes before opening (like 15 mins) and parked like 5 rows away from preferred (at MK the 1st day). The second day at MK, we got there 1.5 hours after opening and parked maybe 10 rows back.. Definitely still doable.

We didn't have any problem with parking at HS, either.

This certainly benefits if you want to leave the park for a few hours and return later! Without it, there's a good chance when you return later you will be pretty far away. We always do it, even at rope drop times for this very reason.

Right now the front parking at all parks is being filled in the morning and then in the evening, maybe last 3 hours of the park they fill the spaces in between cars
So preferred parking only benefits if you're arriving maybe 2 hours after the park has been opened
