In 2004 my whole family went to Disney the 1st week in December. This was MY big thing, I wanted to see Disney World decorated for the holidays.

It was beautiful all decked out and I'm really glad I got to see all the holiday finery, but I'm over it.....
I've honestly decided I prefer Disney UN-Holiday decorated.

My sister and brother think I'm NUTS, now the only time they want to go is during Christmas.

I was asking my sister about going back the 2nd or 3rd week of November and she said she doesn't want to go until the decorations are up.

Am I the only weirdo that prefers "regular" Disney as opposed to Holiday Decorated Disney? :confused3

I agree with you. I love Christmas decorations at home but I want Disney decorations at WDW, not Disney/Christmas decorations.........it gets kinda monotonous. I do however, like some of the extra sparkly lights like the ones they put in EPCOT between WS and FW. WaltD4ME, I'm thinking we may be alone in this though!

I like those too! - I really didn't like how though the garland swags with the wreaths strung over Main Street that block the view of the castle (one of my favorite things at Disney is standing at the end of Main Street looking down at the castle) and the lighted walkway near the enterance to the World Showcase in Epcot is plain UGLY during the day. It's pretty at night, but during the day it isn't much to look at.

I did really enjoy the decorations at the resorts, the giant trees in the parks and the Holiday version of the Jammin' Jungle parade was great, but still all in all I just like regular Disney much better.

I HATE the parks in Christmas garb . . . but then again it just looks so wrong to me being from the north. I'd probably love Disneyland Paris at christmastime.

I agree. I don't like going to Disney when the Christmas decorations are up. They are beautiful, but I like Disney the way it is without them up.

I never really could explain why, I just don't like it...I think because I really look forward to Christmas, and I really look forward to going to Disney. When both happen around the same time and I don't have 2 separate things to look forward to, I get disappointed.

We considered taking a Dec. trip for our first trip ever, but I didn't want to see the parks all decorated. I wanted to see them just Disneyed! I may go sometime at Christmas, but I don't have any strong desire to see the decorations. Where I live (south of kansas city, mo) we have plenty of our own very special Christmas decorations though(the plaza, crown center) so maybe it's just not a big deal for me to see stuff covered in lights. :confused3

The first time I saw the parks all decorated for Christmas, I loved it! But then I ended up going in December like 4 years in a row, and really started missing the "plain" version of the parks!

I don't know. I'm quite fond of the decor. Last year was the first year I went for Christmas after twenty plus years of going during the summer and spring. It was amazing. The lights at Disney just seem so much more brilliant and sparkly than the lights anywhere else (with the exception of maybe Rockefeller, but it's a close tie).

Of course, that could just be because I had stars in my eyes. :)

it's the stars. Nothing beats Rockefeller at christmas. :)

okay, I'm biased.

They are both excellent, no doubt. Part of it is because I practically grew up at WDW, I'm sure. But, of course, I also cut my teeth as an adult in NYC, so - definitely my two favorite places in the world.

We enjoy either way but we probably wouldn't change our plans just to see the decorations though.

I've never seen the Christmas decorations IRL, but I HATED the castle when it was painted hot pink an decorated like a cake. Yuck.

For me, it's too warm in Florida for it to be Christmas! I'd rather go in September any day. And I avoid MNSSHP, too.

Slightly related topic. . .

I can't wait to go in October and see the castle de-blinged again. I hope their done by then. My wife says she doesn't want to see a half-blinged castle.

We went at the holidays for the first time last December and we certainly enjoyed it - MVMCP was terrific - but we too were left thinking that we most prefer our twin pleasures - Xmas and WDW - separate. Still, where will be on Thanksgiving Day? Yup! So, bring it! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I agree. We're going for our third Christmas decorated trip this year and the main reason I like going is because of the lighter crowds and cooler weather. I'm kind of over the decorations but I do want my DBF to see them for the first time. I think it adds a nice festive air to Disney but it seems fake as it doesn't seem like it's even close to Christmas when I'm at WDW!

I prefer Spectro and regular Wishes to the holiday parade and Wishes. I'm trying to get DH to go with me at a "regular" time since we always seem to go at Christmas. :)

I'm so glad someone else said this too! What I really hated was listening to all the Christmas music when I went the very beginning of January-by then I was Christmas music'd out and I missed my Disney music. I kind of like going in early December-the weather, the CP, the low crowds, the annual DVC meeting. But I'll only go in December if it's the second trip of the year to WDW-if I can only go once a year, it definitely isn't around Christmas.

I feel the same way. I love Christmas, but since the stores start promoting it as early as October, by the time it's over I'm DONE with it. We always go to Disney in early January, and I'm always disappointed that the Christmas decorations are still up and we have to listen to the holiday music instead of that great "Main St. USA" stuff.

I can usually deal with it for the first few days, but when we're getting into the second week of January and I'm still listening to "Deck the Halls" I feel like telling Disney, Christmas has come and gone, get over it! :teeth:

Yep, you're nuts! :teeth:

We prefer to go in December only due to the holiday decorations in the parks. This is the 1st year we've gone on a month other than December. This is our extra trip this year with plans to originally go in December. WDW twice this year! :cool1:
