I have to admit, I'm not exactly sure what a pre-trip report is, but based on the ones I've read it appears to be a sort of introduction... so here goes nothing!
There's me, my husband, and our daughter. We both grew up with the Disney bug and are devoted Disneyland APs. While we couldn't afford a Disney wedding, we found ourselves with the need to have a civil ceremony before the big day and quickly eloped, while wearing Bride & Groom Mickey ears, in Snow White's Grotto before having a wonderful family dinner at Storyteller Cafe in the Grand Californian. Our wedding is coming up in January and we actually planned the date around the Wonder's Mexican Riviera schedule, LOL!
We are very blessed to have DH's parents nearby who will take DD during our honeymoon. That said, I was a little sad that she was going to miss out on the magic... until I saw the announcement about the Cruise to Nowhere! The timing worked out perfectly, as it's the weekend before the wedding. Since this is my second marriage and between that, my daughter, and the civil ceremony I'm anything but a bachelorette, I decided we'd put the money I would have spent on a girls' night towards the Cruise to Nowhere for us as a little pre-wedding family getaway to de-stress and have fun together.
(Sometimes I wish the announcement had been made just a month or two sooner, because then we probably would have planned our wedding to be ON the Cruise to Nowhere!)
We are putting Disney touches wherever we can in our wedding. All our tables are named after cards in Dominion and our sweetheart table will be The Wishing Well as a reference to our civil ceremony. Our child attendants (our daughter and her cousin) will be wearing their Disney Princess costumes. We're using the little bride and groom ears from the Just Married antenna topper to decorate our personal cupcakes. We used Zazzle to print customized stamps with Doris from Meet the Robinsons and our first dance will be to "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" from the soundtrack. And, of course, we have the Disney Honeymoon Registry for people who wish to give us gifts.
Aside from the Cruise to Nowhere and the Disneymoon, we've been hesitant to book any other cruises because DD is so young and we are trying to ride out some financial difficulties. If we're going to be paying a premium for the Disney touch, I really want DD to enjoy herself in the Club and Lab, which means waiting until she's three. Lo and behold, the Maiden Voyage of the Disney Fantasy was announced as April 7th, 2012... THREE DAYS after DD's third birthday. And of course this happened only days after her godfather had given us a large amount of money as a gift. It was a sign from the universe! I immediately emailed my TA and asked her to get us a reservation when booking opened, and sent an email blast out to our equally Disneyfied families to see if anyone would join us. Now we've got six others sailing with us! It also looks like DD's official spring break will be the week after that cruise, so we're going to stay at WDW afterwards since we'll already be in Florida.
Eventually we'd love to do a holiday cruise, and are hoping against hope that they bring the Baltic cruises back--that's our dream cruise itinerary. Eventually we'll get around to the Mediterranean, but I'd really like DD (and any other kids we might have) to be old enough to absorb it and remember. If we ever have some serious disposable income, I'd like to do a transatlantic, but that might also have to wait until the kid(s) are way older as those cruises happen during school. It's one thing to take DD out for one week once a year; I'm not sure I'm comfortable with two whole weeks at the beginning or end of the year.
Wow... this ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would be. If you made it this far, thanks!
