Pre-Trip Report for 12/10-12/19 Land/Sea Vacation

Myself--45
DH--45 (1st time ever at WDW!!)
My best friend--42
Her DH--45 (his 1st time ever at WDW)

My last trip to WDW was December 2002. It was my first trip in December and I vowed to only go during this time from now on. No more heat strokes, no more long lines, gorgeous Christmas decorations.. It was the best trip ever. I took my best friend (Chris) and her daughters and my daughter and her fiance. (I wasn't married at the time).

This trip is a very special one coming up. I have been married 2 1/2 years now (after being divorced over 20 years)...My husband has never been to WDW and, of course, is very skeptical that he is going to have a good time. I have assured him he definitely will...

This is my best friend's 25th wedding anniversary and she and her husband have never been on a trip together (not even a honeymoon) so this will be a special trip for them... They booked with us later after we talked them into going with us....

We have 27 more days.... I'm so excited about it.. We will be doing the Land/Sea trip... I've done the Disney cruise once before for my daughter's senior trip but no one else has ever sailed on Disney. I told them they are in for a treat...

We are staying at the Polynesian...but because of our flight time we decided to add an extra night so we wouldn't lose a day at the parks...so we will be staying at POR the first night, then checking into Poly the next day... We will stay at the Poly 4 nights, then head to Port Canaveral for our cruise Then after our cruise, we will stay one more night in Orlando at The Clarion on Universal Blvd and go to Universal Studios for one day before leaving on the 19th to head back to Mississippi... :thewave:

Thanks so much.. I was hesitant about posting before the trip. I never thought anyone would be interested in hearing about my pre-trip plans or jitters.. Thanks for the input. That puts me at ease and I will look forward to putting my thoughts down on paper, so to speak.

I have been planning this trip for over a year and I have done so many itineraries to try to get as much squeezed into such a short trip. I want to make sure I do things our husbands will enjoy (and not think are corny) so I may leave off some of my "usuals" and include new things I haven't seen or frequented as much. I am hoping this trip will be addictive to my husband as it has always been for me. I want to take him to Wilderness Lodge for sure because he is a outdoors type of guy and I know he would love to stay there so maybe that will be our "next trip"!!

Thanks for the pre trip report. I can't wait to hear more about your upcoming vacation. I think it is great that you convinced your friend to take the trip, it will be a great way to celebrate their anniversary. Your husband should LOVE WDW, mine was skeptical when I first took him but he has grown to love our times there.

When you take your husband to the Wildnerness Lodge check out the sleigh rides they are offering for Christmas time. I just booked it for my daughter and I.

Looking forward to hearing how it went. I've never sailed on Disney, and my sister-in-law is terrified that going on a ship will make her sick. But I've heard it is great, for people with kids and for people without. How exciting for it to be your friend's first vacation with her husband. My hubby and I didn't have a honeymoon either (and, after 14 years, still haven't, but I'm ever hopeful =) and our first trip together was super special.

Disneylizzy-- I can relate to your impending divorce and believe me, I can remember feeling like I never wanted to be married again...but after many years of being alone and raising my daughter (which I never regretted doing), I did unexpectedly find love again... actually we dated 14 years prior but it didn't work out at that time.. Now I couldn't be happier and we love taking trips together and I am looking forward to "hooking" him on Disney!!

Fabumouse--I have cruised many times and have never gotten seasick...I always take Bonine every day. I have a tendency to get car sick very easily and it has never made me sick....and I have cruised twice with a hurricane and still never got sick...but I never forgot to take my Bonine...

Thanks on the sea sick thing. My Sister IL will then want to know if Bonine has any other side effects. =) But I keep working on her and will add this to my arsenal.

I'm not sure about any other side effects of Bonine...but you can find it in any Wal-mart or most drugstores, I'm sure. It's just easier to take than Dramamine...does not make you drowsy and you only take it once a day rather than 3 times a day..

I have been wanting to get a digital camera but have been scared to move into the tech world of digital photography!!! I have been on line most of the day today researching the different kinds. I have no experience whatsoever in digital cameras and needed something that pretty much runs itself..lol Well..I bit the bullet and ordered on line the Casio Exilim EX-Z57. This is a 5 MP slim line camera with a 2.7" LCD. I really liked the slimness of the camera and it has a huge LCD. It comes with a docking station and has a long-life battery, all for the price of $269. OMG!! What have I done??? I just hope I can learn what I'm doing before my trip in 27 days. It should arrive within 5-7 days. I also ordered 2 512 MB memory cards for $29 each... should that be enough??

Well, I have been anxiously waiting for the last few days for my new digital camera to arrive Fed-Ex. I was tracking it on the Fed-Ex website and it was due to be delivered today..

Well..after waiting all day here until 5:30 so I wouldn't miss the delivery, I checked the tracking site again tonight and guess what??? It said it was delivered at 2:11 pm today! It said it was left at the front door... Guess what?? It's not at my front door... Apparently they took it to the wrong house and left it on someone else's front door!

I called Fed-Ex and they are going to check into it tomorrow and call me back... I'm sooooo bummed out... I was so looking forward to trying to figure it out and now I have to figure out where it is..@?!!?!!@@#

We got our Magical Express luggage tags today!! I'm still waiting on our cruise documents but I've read that it may be as close as 10 days before we get them. I look for them to get here in the next few days. It's getting closer!!

I went to Wal-Mart today and got the usual vacation things....shampoo, Bonine, travel size amenities..(I need to maximize my suitcase room)... :thewave: Can't wait to get there!!

My daughter told me today that she is pregnant!! She and her husband have been trying for almost 2 years and she found out early this morning. I'm so excited!! This is my first grandchild. She and her husband are taking their nephew to WDW one week after we get back. I told her today that now we can start planning for another trip in a few years after she has this child!!

Just two more weeks for us...time is getting closer...Still haven't gotten my cruise documents yet though....
