I can't believe I'm writing this! We've been a Disney all the way family. We used to say nasty things going down I 4 on the way to Disney. Well things have changed. This trip we're doing a combo trip and our plan to to finish at UNI. I'm not saying it's that I don't still love Disney but...... it's time to shake things up a bit. Let me introduce us it's me the mom, my dh and our 2 boys who will be 14 and 22. We'll be staying at a condo and the plan is to go to UNI August 16-23rd. My dh has a regular AP(no blackouts) I have an AP with blackout dates and my boys have 3 park unlimited passes my dh got from work and they are not going with us on vacation next year. Thanks to all of you I think I have a plan, that is not so much a plan as an outline of what we want to do. The first day we'll get there bright and early and go straight to Diagon Alley. We have a dining list and will most likely go to Mythos our second day. The boys do plan to ride every ride at least once. With a week and a day we're not getting EP don't think we'll really need it, besides my older ds has autism and we'll have UNI's version of a GAC. Not to mention all the boys including my dh are into Potter and I'm sure most of their time will be spent there. Thanks for the help and I'm almost as excited about going over to the darkside as I am for the Disney portion of our trip.

Looking forward to reading about your trip...........sounds like you have been reading up on things and getting to know what Universal has to offer........

You certainly have plenty of time to enjoy the parks......it will be busy, but you have an idea of that and have planned accordingly.

Sounds good!!! Potter is amazing.......we like Potter but not huge fans, even so both areas are spectacular and so much detail it is incredibly overwhelming to take it all in.........you and your family will love universal I'm sure.......

Thank you. Compared to Disney this is so much easier. For that I had to book 14 meals and one of those is counter service. I have a giant calendar with days, parks etc already written in. I've had to become a type A planner to get anything done there. I'm hoping not to have to schedule every minute

Doesn't sound like fun to me at all!!! I'm not anti Disney at all.......I'm anti all the fuss that's gone into a trip there now......haven't been to Disney since 08 and no plans to return any time soon.

Universal requires so little planning usually........certainly for us it involves none at all........You have a long enough trip there you can leave something for another day if it's too busy.......I'm sure you'll be very impressed with how Universal rolls along........

LOL that really is all I have planned for UNI except at some point we want to eat at cowfish. The rest of my plans are in a TR called "An Almost Dream Vacation" up in the regular TR section. Please don't ask me to link as I'm no good at that

I read that a lot from newbies when going to try the darkside.
very common for a motherland lover trying the darkside for the first time.

i started out with disney and evenually tried universal many years back.
i can't imagine going to orlando and not doing both theme parks.

you'll find something about the UO parks that you will enjoy and have fun there.
