Ok, a quick question for those of you who have done a presurgery "prep" with a bottle of Magnesium Citrate....cherry or lemon?

Which artificial flavor do you like better? I'm a lemon person, myself; just make sure that whichever you choose, you get it really cold before you drink it, and make sure you're really thirsty. ;)

Cherry. DH had to use serveral bottles a few weeks ago for other issues. He said the cherry was better, tasted like cherry soda, but it did leave an after taste. (I think the lemon did too)

Don't want to discourage you but they both taste like battery acid. Drink it as cold as possible and don't let it reach your taste buds if possible.

Lemon. But it was refridgerated first. Then I numbed my tongue with an ice cube before drinking it. Hateful stuff.

lesser of two evils, around here most Patients like the lemon
go with very cold

I did the cherry back when I had my gastric bypass several years ago, and I swear that stuff darn near wrecked my taste buds! I literally did NOT want anything cherry tasting for about three years afterwards.
In retropect I think I was glad I had chosen it, since I do like lemon flavoring a bit more. :rotfl:
Good luck with the surgery, btw.
Kim

Thanks, everyone -- I'm leaning toward the lemon, if only because the cherry just LOOKS like it would taste like cough syrup.

The ice cube tip is a great idea, thanks! Maybe I'll spray my tongue with Cloraseptic spray beforehand, too...not only will my tongue be numb, but after that, most anything would taste better.

Lemon!!!!

Cherry flavored anything (even juice, candy, etc.) tastes like cough syrup to me and literally makes me gag.

When I had to do a prep like this I used lemon and it was fine. Not the most pleasant thing in the world to drink, but it was tolerable.

I used them all together......then cold as could get it and then held my nose :rotfl: It worked.

:rotfl: When I saw the words magnesium citrate, my pulse increased. I had to drink this for a medical test when I was in college 32 years ago. The memory has not faded:rotfl:.

With either one drink it very cold with a straw so it misses your taste buds.

Lemon, cold, hold your nose...and do it FAST!
