How would this work? I've got a pre-park opening for BOG at 8:05. It's also the day of an Early Morning Magic. I'm used to doing BOG and then lining up for a ride or two on the Mine Train. Will I still be able to do that. And, yes, I know it's never been a guarantee--just going by personal experience. Will we be able to ride other things too? I'm just really lost as to how these two things work together!

You won't be able to RIDE 7DMT or PP, but you will be able to line up and be ready to ride as soon as the clock strikes nine.

One bonus of PPO on an EMM day is you're guaranteed they won't change the hours on you and thereby lose the PPO advantage.

My Disney TA assured me that it wouldn’t be a problem for us to ride because the early rides are also meant for early diners.

ETA: she said we couldn’t get on at 8 but would have no problem at say 8:40 since it’s common for them to open early for BOG guests.

This is not true on a EMM day. You will be allowed to queue up but not ride until 9. Other people paid a premium to ride before 9 so you won’t be allowed in at 8:40 with EMM.

I had this happen, by the time we were done with BOG breakfast the line was too long at 7 dwarfs from the early morning magic people (or magic hours morning resort guests) that i decided to skip it and do other stuff. My son and I were one of the first people to enter the main street but it was a disaster with everyone running. I actually I better luck getting on the next day doing rope drop and was in line pretty easily and did not have to wait long for the mine train at a regular 9 am opening.

Someone in the EMM thread said that they allowed BOG people on at 8:55am recently. As you know, OP, this is always up to the CM discretion.

Even with a 9am Park opening on a non-EMM day, getting on 7DMT at 8:40am is not a given. Exact morning ride opening procedures can vary day to day. Some days you may get a little Disney pixie dust and they start running it early, some days you may not, and every variation in between. You’ll still be well ahead of the rope drop crowds under normal circumstancs, but I’d dial down “it will be running early” expectations because anything can happen on any given Disney day.

You may want to start another thread with all the things your TA has "assured" you won't be a problem, because I don't think they know as much as they think they do, and there may be some other things for which you need to lower expectations.

The EMM guests are all given a wristband to distinguish them from breakfast diners. Without a wristband, you will not be allowed on the ride until just before the rope droppers arrive.

We were there for BOG 8:05 during an EMM morning. The CM let us line up right outside the 7DMT line and opened if for us just a couple minutes before the opening crowd came through. We had time to ride it once and move on to PP, the rush of 7D riders had already stretched out past the queue by the time we were out.
