OK how does everyone eat before the race?We will be there on Thursday and going to the buffets is not an option for obvious reasons.Just wondering what people usually do? Looking at menus I am wondering what to plan for ADRs or where to go.

Just trying to plan this all out in my head.

TIA,

Linda

Good morning Linda. Wow you are really planning ahead!!

When I did the half last year (or this year I guess), I stayed at CBR and was able to find a pasta dish in the food court area. I usually go for something with some chicken. This year for ToT we stayed at CBR again and I was able to get a fetuccine alfredo with chicken. I asked for sauce on the side and they were very good about doing this. That way, I could control the amount of sauce and not have to pick around!!!

Good luck finding a place to eat and best of luck in the marathon!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks Lisa!

Pasta the night before is great but with the family I am trying to figure out where to go days ahead and what to eat when we arrive-no burger and fries, salads not enough.Do I eat pasta for 3 days prior to the race? Or is it Ok to mix it up say Thursday and Friday and concentrate on Saturday's food?

Linda

Linda, I have not completed a marathon yet, just the half distance. I eat normally in the days leading up to a race. I do not eat anything different and I try to stay away from too much salt, sugar, etcetera. I guess my advice is act normal!!

My favorite place to eat in MK is Columbia Harbour House as they have great sandwiches and salads. Good food is abundant in WDW now (yay)!!

I will definately be at the Plaza for their sandwiches and potato salad! I could go right now!

I have to make an ADR ,the last 2 times we could not get in.

I have eaten the last two years at the Whispering Canyon Cafe the night before. They (and most restaurants and food courts in WDW) have some sort of a pasta dish on the menu usually all weekend. Enjoy yourself and try to eat as normally as possible. Try to get an early evening ADR if you can. You will want to get back to your hotel for some relaxing and then hopefully sleeping as you will then be up VERY EARLY to get over for your events!!

Hi Linda!

Most of the restaurants will have a special on their menu just for runners that weekend. We've encountered this at Spoodles and Olivia's (OKW). But I agree that a food court or buffet would be the best thing for the night prior to the race. I know that POP and CSR both have good pastas in their respective eateries.

As for the days leading up to the race (Thurs & Fri), just try and stick to your normal eating...you don't want to upset your stomach by introducing something new...and you don't want to shock your system by eliminating something you are used to (caffeine or sugar products). I think the only thing we cut back on was wine (or did we? lol)...and we made sure to drink a lot of water.

Hope this helps a bit.

If you are planning on attending the WISH meet on Friday at the POP, they will have pasta at the Food Court.

I agree with Lisa with mix of carbs and protein. I have done chicken/pasta meal at Pop on Fri before 1/2. I do chicken sandwich for lunch after 1/2 and carbs(pizza/pasta) before Full. Balance is key plus plain and simple. Just like training, don't eat anything you aren't sure won't cause you problems race morning!

Good luck!

We always find something good at the WISH Team meet on Friday before the half and then go similar to what is being said with protein and pasta, some light fare the next day befor the full. During the week preceding normal eating with a good amount of water too should get you through.
