Hello folks!

Yup, I've decided to plan a 10-night solo trip to WDW! Well, I had also booked a solo Disney Cruise on the Magic January 22-29, and I ended up going with 2 friends, so we shall see... :confused3 For the moment, I've booked All-Star Movies (Pop Century was full, sadly) with Deluxe Dining Plan.

First: Me! I'm a 30 y.o. guy that is looking out for new culinary experiences (I can be a tad snotty about food, you won't see chicken, salmon or pork tenderloin anywhere on this post. Not that I dislike those, but in a restaurant, I wanna try new stuff. I'm also a veggie and soup fan.) and as you can guess by my frequent misuses of the English language, I'm from Montreal and speak French. So... Bonjour! Thank you in advance for your comprehension. :flower3:

This is my 2nd WDW trip, the first one was in 2005 with Mother, because I'm that nice boy who invited his Mother with him... (insert Awwwwww here ---->[...]) I will also be celebrating my 31st Birthday during this trip! :bday:

But enough about good old me, let's talk food! Here are my dining reservations so far, please do comment, bemoan and express yourself!

Sept 19: Nothing planned yet. I haven't chosen my flight, so I'll see... Probably Olivia's Cafe for Dinner, I wanna try the pork chop with smoked cheddar grits, we don't get much Southern food in Montreal!

Sept 20: MK - Breakfast at The Wave (sweet potato pancakes with pecan-honey butter!), Lunch at Plaza (don't ask, I've been craving the veggie sandwich for 4 years, this has to stop!), Dinner at Narcoossee's (Is it good? Wee'll ssee!)

Sept 21: AK - Lunch at Tusker House (although I might cancel, not a big fan of buffets), Dinner at Jiko (maize-crusted wreckfish! Don't even try to tell me to eat steak and Mac&Cheese at an African restaurant! :snooty:)

Sept 22: EP - Breakfast at Kouzzina (Waffle or flatbread?), Lunch[ at Coral Reef (I KNOW! Everybody hates it... I guess I wanna see for myself? The rainbow trout just calls for my name!), Dinner at Vicky and Al's! Yup, Victoria & Albert's Chef Table! I can barely keep myself for screaming on the streets! :yay::woohoo::cheer2: Of course, there's no way I'll go there alone. I've contacted a few Twitter friends, I might ask around these parts also, but this is something to share...

Sept 23: DHS - BIRTHDAY! Breakfast at Grand Floridian Cafe (another must, this twin filet with sausage-egg frittata and herb-cream sauce will clog my heart with deliciousness! And a Grand Mimosa shall be required!) Lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe, because how fun could it get on your birthday, really? Dinner at Flying Fish Cafe (Will I get a birthday mackerel muffin? Stay tuned!:scared:)

Sept 24: Resort hoping and mini-putt - Early lunch at Raglan Road (Banger and mash, Irish stew, Shepherd's pie? Help me choose!), Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge (I definitely need a friend for this one! I'm a tea lover, plus I wanna have the trifle, the scones, the little sandwiches... :hyper:), late Dinner at Artist Point (Halibut with crab risotto? nom nom nom)

Sept 25: EPCOT - Lunch at Sunshine Seasons (pork chop and strawberry shortcake!), Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse (porterhouse, rack of lamb, stone bass? Argh, me so hungry!)

Sept 26: AK - Lunch at Yak & Yeti (wok-fried green beans and the duck!), Dinner at Boma

Sept 27: MK - Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe, Lunch at Sanaa (really looking forward to this one, for the view during lunch time, and I adore Indian food! Roasted cauliflower, the watermelon, lime and radish salad, the roasted beets salad and the orange, mint and carrot salad, I'll take shrimp with green curry sauce with paneer and spinach, and you gotta have the bread service with cucumber raita [fat, to cool down], the garlic pickle [for sourness] and tamarind chutney [sweetness] and mango pudding or chai cream? I need a friend to take other choices and split with me! Wanna be my friend? :flower3:), Dinner at Citricos (I kinda want to just take 3-4 apps and call it a meal, tapas-style, with sauteed shrimp, gateau of crab, duck confit and butternut squash soup)

Sept 28: DHS - Lunch at Brown Derby (tough choice, between Butter Brown Almond-crusted Black Grouper, pork chop and lamb shank, I count on you to guide me!), Dinner at California Grill (roasted heirloom beets salad, or lobster bisque, maybe veal chop, not sure here...)

That's it for the planning! I'll try to have breakfast and maybe lunch at Pollo Campero and Wolfgang Puck Express on the 19th or the 29th.

So... any comments, desire to join me, urge to tell me to cancel an ADR? I'm waiting for your input! :)

I'm looking forward to your TR, especially your opinion of V&A. DW and I went for the first time the week after Thanksgiving. Without a doubt, for food AND service, it is the best restaurant we have ever experienced (and we LOVE to try new restaurants...especially living so close to New Orleans). Since you like soup, you'll probably enjoy the butternut squash soup at V&A (They also serve it at Jiko's). It is so thick it should be a bisque and not a soup and it is so rich and creamy that a little goes a long way. We enjoyed it so much, I found the V&A recipe online and DW made it when we returned home. Everything about V&A is top notch which is the reason they are one of only 43 AAA 5 diamond restaurants in the entire U.S.

Dizney73 Good, I'm in too! Do feel free to give me recommandations. :scratchin

rachel09985 A long wait? But look, look how the sand goes fast! :hourglass I probably should have waited, but I was so excited for V&A's Chef Table and none of my friends and family members are Disney fans, I knew I would find people here who would get how cool this is! Plus, it'll give you plenty of time to give me your best suggestions!

saintstickets Thank you for the heads up about the butternut squash soup/bisque at V&A's, I know the menu changes with the seasons, but in late September it should be perfect time for a good Fall soup, so maybe I'll get lucky! Soups are oftentimes underrated, I look forward to Jiko's version of the butternut squash, with Spiced Cottage Cheese, Toasted Almond, and Coconut.

If I get an early flight on the 19th, I'll try to get Grand Floridian Cafe for Dinner, I wanna have a go at their shrimp appetizer for two, I'll make a meal of it for myself (have you read the description? "citrus poached, tomato basil, champaign scampi over lobster bread pudding"! :faint:), maybe with their strawberry salad, with feta and cashews, it looks nice!

OK, I have to stop now, the drooling is getting out of control! :rotfl:

Yup, I decided to switch my Sept. 27 breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe for Kona Cafe. Not for the famous Tonga Toast, mind you, because I really dislike warm bananas. Yeah, I know, that's weird, but I find it really unappealing, like in french crepes with chocolate? Yuck. But served on the side, perfectly fine. I don't mind dipping the banana slice in the chocolate fondue, but I don't care for banana slices to be baked into something. :confused3

Anyway... I switched because I originally opted for WCC for the silliness, but if I'm alone, how silly could it get, really? Also, I didn't find anything really special in the menu. But at Kona Cafe, the Macadamia pineapple pancakes are looking great! Along with a glass of lilikoi juice, that should make for a good start for the day!

I haven't ever tried the famous Tonga Toast:confused3 but I must say that the Macadamia pineapple pancakes do sound much more appealing to me as well! YUMMO!!!:goodvibes And silly... hey, if you are silly to them... they will be silly to you!

My favorite salad lately at home is baby spinach with blue cheese, strawberries and Sweet Vidalia Onion dressing! So I would say that strawberry salad will be divine!!!!:thumbsup2

You're going to love Kona and don't waste you time or appetite on the toast!!! Not worth the calories.
