Hi everyone

Thought I would just post some of our conclusions from 2 weeks of staying on site and eating lots of food! No pictures I'm afraid as I am not yet organised enough :rotfl:

The great surprise hit of our vacation dining was the Grand Floridian Cafe. This was our 6th year at WDW and our first time at this restaurant. It is on the ground floor of the GF and we ate there once for a lunch and then once again for a dinner. At lunch I was served a wonderful crabcake appetiser that I loved, followed by one of my favourite ever pasta dishes (and I eat a lot of pasta!). The service was impeccable. At dinner we had an outstanding house-made Ceasar salad, mussels and steaks. Lovely atmosphere and will definitely go there again.

We had one great meal at Narcoosee's with the most astonishing dish of deep-fried whole yellow snapper in a soy-lime vinaigrette. Wow - this was incredible. Our server, Diane, was amazing. A few nights later we went again and although the food was still wonderful we had the worst server ever - so bad that I complained.

We ate at the Cali Grill and had a lovely experience - wonderful flatbread with duck and cherries, and my entree (the filet) was lovely until the last 3 bites when I hit a really nasty bit of fat - ugh! This somewhat ruined the meal, although I tried not to let it. It was just bad luck!

The Yachtsman Steakhouse served us great food, and the most amazing onion bread, the steak was wonderful, but the atmosphere was a bit businesslike and our server efficient but not very friendly.

Le Celier was a great experience - best server we had anywhere (Dan). Steaks were very nice, although not as good as Yachtsman. Very nice atmosphere and great non-alcoholic drinks range. I was disappointed with the Smores dessert - very very dry!

We ate in Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney many many times. We tried the one at Marketplace and the one at Westside. Don't bother with Westside in my opinion - the Marketplace one has better seating, better atmosphere and a wider range of dishes. The food here as always delicious - our favourite dishes were the Chicken Tortilla and the BBQ Chicken Pizza.

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter. The food court here sucked. My DH thinks it was "fine". We normally stay at Pop and have also stayed at Caribbean Beach and AKL. The POFQ food court is teeny tiny compared to the others. I found the choice very limited. I tried a Chicken Quesadilla and it was fine, but not great. I had a pepperoni pizza and it was horrible - totally different than the park pizzas that I thought were standard throughout WDW (like the ones in Pizza Planet - I could eat them all day!). The burger was good - I stuck with that in the end.

I was most disappointed by the bakery selection in POFQ food court which was very limited. There were no chocolate croissants, which I felt was a shame as I love them! The blueberry muffin was nice, and the sugar cookies with tiny mickeys on were lovely. The much hyped beignets that are unique to the resort were fine, but very greasy and more like a pastry than a doughnut texture.

Offsite (only just) we went to Benihana in the Hilton at Downtown Disney twice. Chateaubriand steak meal including soup, salad, appetiser and rice for $35 can't be bad in my opinion! Both times the food was extraordinary.

One last foodie note on Counter services - Columbia Harbour House's tuna sandwich is every bit as good as people say it is. I can't believe I waited so long to try it!

Happy eating everyone! Happy to answer any questions anyone has. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for the reviews. I try to visit one new place every trip and thank's to your review, I think I'll have to visit over at the GF.

thanks for taking the time to post, sounds like you had some FAB meals. We have never eaten at the GF, sounds like we need to make a trip there and give it a try.

We also love the Grand Floridian Cafe!
We had never even thought of trying it until about 3 years ago. I wanted to try a completely different restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised!! It is now one of our favorite restaurants and will be eating this Mother's day!!! Can't wait!:goodvibes
