Pre-Book and Hope For Free Dining Or Wait?

... Nothing about your reservation would change if there are rooms available in the free dining pool.

The only luck was that rooms were still available, but the procedure is exactly the same. If someone else had gotten the last room in the pool before you, when you called they would have told you it wasn't available for your booking. It doesn't matter if it's new or already booked.

I explained it the best I can. If you don't get how it works on their end that's fine. Getting free dining on the guest side is getting free dining.

Not really sure my lighthearted belief that my FD was luck quite warranted this kind of response.

Yes, you clearly know more about the inner workings of the reservation system than I do. But you know what, this is Disney, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with me believing that my FD came to me through pixie dust pixiedust:

Sorry if you thought my response was overly harsh for some reason? No idea why, but ok.

Your belief is totally fine. A lot of people prefer to know the reality of how the system works to get a firm grasp on their chances and how to enhance them. There's nothing wrong with not being one of those people.

Enjoy your day :)
