Prayers needed for a sweet 3yr old little boy and his family UPDATE

Just received this message from my friend.

It is with great, great sadness that I tell you that our prayers were not answered. Through out the night last night Rick's intracranial pressure continued to increase to an extremely high level. And then his blood pressure and heart rate began to increase as well. We were just waiting for the EEG to be performed this morning so we could determine the extent of the brain damage. The EEG showed that our sweet, sweet boy is brain dead. Medical exams done by two different doctors and a cerebral blood flow study confirmed the finding of brain death.

The ventilator and medicines are still keeping his little body alive. We have decided to donate Rick's organs so that in death he can give life to others. We will have to stay at the hospital until after midnight so they can coordinate the donations.

I did not see this post yesterday so as I was reading it I was hoping a miracle could happen for this family. I am very sad to hear it did not happen and this sweet boy is now an angel. How sad for this to happen on Christmas Eve. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I am glad they were able to make a miracle happen for other families by donating his organs.

I am so sorry to hear about this for anyone at this time of year. Recently in our area same thing happened. A little girl who was 5 had this horrible sickness and passed from it. It is a wonderful thing that they are doing with donating his organs. I have a cousin on the Heart Transpant waiting list. It will give comfort to the family knowing that this little boy is able to live on in another child or adult. We donated my Sister-in-laws Kidneys when she died back in 2002. They are in our prayers.

This just breaks my heart. I am so glad they were able to donate his organs. I good friend and my former boss is in the hospital right now in New Orleans after having a liver transplant. I had a cousin also get a liver and another friend a kidney. Organ donation is truly a wonderful gift you can give. And it may be that this little guy was needed more in this way, to save other lives who can then go on to do who knows what good for this world.

Update..
Message from Rick's Mommy



The organ transplant team told us that they would be ready to take Rick to the operating room at 12:30 this morning. He would be able to donate his lungs, liver and kidneys. His heart could not be donated because of the meningitis. At 12:30 AM as promised the nurses walked into Rick's room with some bad news. They were not able to find a match for any of his organs. The nurse said they could not find a match because he was so little. There were no little children in need of his organs. We were saddened but then Randy realized that that was actually good news. There were no little children in the country that were so sick, that they needed to have Rick's organs to survive.

We wanted to donate Rick's organs to help others, to give other families the Christmas miracle that we didn't get. But in the end, I guess it was a blessing that it was not needed.

Hi all..

Just wanted to pull this back up and ask for continued prayers.


The families oldest two have gone back to school and Mom is having a hard time.
She is a SAHM and is having a rough time with a quiet house.
Her 5 year old son is having a horrible time going to bed without his brother as she is also having a rough time sleeping. I know the lack of sleep is making this pain even worse. I pray every night that she can sleep well.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. The family needs all they can get right now.
