Practice Measuring at Home

My 2 year old is currently 36.5-37 inches barefoot at home. We don't go to Disney until November. I want to start practicing having her get measured in case she hits 38 inches. I want her to understand that her head needs to touch the bar. How would you make a practice measuring bar?

Duct tape a short bar to a longer bar in an "L" shape. Just look around the house and see what you can find. Just going by what is in my field of vision right now, I could make one from a ruler and a broom.
