PPH worth it for a night?

We will be in our happy place Nov 27th to Dec 2nd, staying at DLH. DH has decided he would like to stay an extra night so now I am tasked with finding a hotel for Fri Dec 2nd. With it being a Friday, DLH price jumps plus there is no discount, so I vetoed that option. DH would like to stay at PPH (we have never stayed here. DH really wants to stay onsite), but for $100 less we could just stay at the new Homewoodsuites, plus get their breakfast in the morning.

Does anyone think PPH is worth the night stay? We will be leaving first thing Saturday morning. We love staying onsite, but would not be using the EMH on Saturday and I heard their pool is not that great.

Definitely not even remotely worth it. And it's my preferred on site hotel. Îts the most comfortable for my family. But if I was changing hotels and not going to Disney in the morning there is no way I would choose an on-site hotel. Personally, I'd stay somewhere on the beach.

I could not have said it better myself!

Thank you! That's exactly the advice I needed! :thumbsup2

You can use any of the pools with your paradise pier hotel key....but if you're leaving early morning I'd stay somewhere else.

Agree, pass on the PPH, stay at your original Hotel, no hassles with moving, and a cost savings.

I love PPH. I'd stay there if I could afford it. Absolutely. I don't use the onsite hotels at Disney for the perks in the parks.

NO. Not true. Only if PPH's pool is closed can you use another resort's pool, and then only the one they tell you you're allowed to use.

I'm trying to weigh this myself. We have a great rate for first two nights at GCH (never stayed there so bucket list thing) but our third only PPH was available but we do use EMH everyday and hours are late everyday so midday breaks will be likely.

I have something offsite booked for over half less but would be a larger hassle than just moving from GCH to PPH and we would still use EMH our departure day so choices!!
It's a tough call but if the cost isn't a deal breaker I'd say might be worth it.

EDIT : OF COURSE - as soon as I posted this , for the heck of it checked rates again and found availability for DLH for all 3 nights instead , though one night was a bit more than the first two , still means staying at ONE hotel and still saving over $300.

Our last trip we tacked on a Fri & found ourselves in the same boat. We spent the night at one of the motels on Harbor & had zero regrets, it worked great, we saved hundreds (GCH heading into xmas, prices were CRAZY). I would do Homewood Suites & pocket the $100 in savings. Unless DH is the type to grumble, on vacation or later, about not getting to stay at PPH. If that was the case, & the budget could afford it, I'd just book PPH.

Time usually outweighs dollars for us when we are at Disney. We have had to move rooms within the same hotel, twice, and for us it was a huge pain. We had to gather up everything, search the whole room to see if we left anything, repack and secure it, drag it to the new room, and unpack it again. For my family, that was a lot of work!

If you move to the PPH you will have to move all your stuff to the new hotel (Disney will not move items between hotels for you. We tried to do a split stay once so I called and asked about it. And it does not seem like a long walk between hotels but it may feel like a long walk when you have luggage) and go through the entire room check-in process again which for us always takes about 20 minutes.

Also, check out is by 11am so a part of the morning, when the crowds are lower at the parks than in the afternoon, will be used up moving between hotels. And check in is not until 3pm, so there is no guarantee your room will be ready, you may have to go through all that hassle just to check your bags in with bell service only to have to come back in a few more hours and get your room.

If you are choosing to stay an additional night to enjoy more time at DLR please bear in mind that at the very least an hour of that time will be spent moving between hotels, and that's if you move onsite. I know the DLH is pricey esp on the weekends, we are staying for a weekend in Oct so I am woefully aware of the rates, but the cost for one extra night may outweigh the process of moving to another hotel.

Hope you have a great stay! We love the DLH and the PPH and, to answer your original question, it would be worth it for our family to move to the PPH but definitely not an off site hotel if we had to move, which we probably wouldn't! We love staying onsite and we think the experience is worth the extra duckets.

Disney World (or so I hear I read on trip reports) has onsite split stays worked out very well and the CM will move your luggage to your new room for you and your magic bands make check in easy BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE FOR DLR. It is a time consuming pain in the rear and its not much easier switching between on site hotels and onsite to off site hotels. I would pocket the dough and use it for a nice dinner or the dessert party or something.

But if he really wants to stay there it might be worth it just to check it off the list. Also if you would make use of surfs up breakfast at PPH (one of the best character breakfasts in my opinion) then it really is nicer and easier to do as a PPH guest.
