I've booked a Kids Suites at HoJo for our incoming May trip. Today disneyland.com launch a 25% discount for its hotels during our dates. I have to admit that I've only stayed on Disney propierty, either WDW or DLR in our last 4 stays, and loved every minute of them!
But the difference for 5 nights between Kids Suites and PPH standard room is $472 usd (including the $15 per day parking fee).
Can someone who has stayed at both hotels give me some advice? I'm torn between my love for all things disney and my wallet!
BTW, it's me, DH, DS10, DD12 and DMIL.

I think you'd be a little cramped at PPH with 3 adults and 2 big kids.

If your going to stay onsite then it would only be Disneyland Hotel or Grand Californian for me. We've done both at Disneyland, staying outside at several of the hotels and staying onsite. Grand Californian was our favorite of all the trips. We've gone where we've added other California sites into the mix and had to keep it as cheap as possible when we got to Disney. Guess depends on how much time you will be there and will you take advantage of the pools on property?

That's the downsize.

I remember your fantastics pics for the GCH! Yes, GCH would be a dream, and would also love DLH since it looks great with the renovation, but both options are out of my budget, unfortunately. That's why I was thinking on PPH.
We'll arrive on a Monday afternoon and leave on Saturday morning. My kids will not forgive me if we don't spend time at the pools. Of course, they've already looked at the themed pool at HoJo and love the idea of spending some time there.
It's just that HoJo doesn't excite us (DH & I), but our wallet loves the idea. This is a special trip, we might not return to DLR at least for some years, and it's my MIL first time ever to a Disney park. So I guess I'm trying to make the best of our budget.

Thanks for the nice comments about some of the shots from GCH. We are debating this very issue with HOJO and GCH. We are planning a summer return and won't be back for awhile as well. We are beginning in San Diego which will take alot of the dollars away from Disneyland.

How many days are you planning on being at Disneyland?
How old is MIL? Will she enjoy the hotel/motel feel?
If your not coming back for quite awhile then maybe you should splurge?
I was looking for ways to cut down on our expenses and noticed you can save some money by not buying park hopper tickets and just single park tickets. Do you really park hop? Maybe you could use that money to stay onsite?

Well, your photos ARE excellent! I've enjoyed them may times!
Funny, we'll also be going to San Diego, 2 days before and 1 day after (we're flying to SAN), and also it's taking a bite from our expenses (we don't mind).
I've already bought a 4-day parkhopper since it costs the same than single park tickets (there is a discount going on for my dates).
My DMIL is 74, and she will love everything, since everything's new for her. She won't mind at all either place, that's more for DH and I :hippie:.
