If I purchase a Power Pass -- to be able to get the hotel discount -- do I print it out at home / is it valid immediately? I have searched and I can't find this info anywhere. Thanks!

You don't print it at home. You will pick it up when you either get to the park or the hotel or have it mailed to your house. It isn't valid until you go through a park gate.

When you go to the order page and click on the blue choose shipping button, you'll see your 4 choice for getting your tickets. None of them are print at home.

Also, if you click on details on the main AP page, this comes up: https://www.universalorlando.com/Theme-Park-Tickets/Annual-Passes/Non-FL-Annual-Passes.aspx

All benefits and blockout dates are valid on a calendar year basis and are subject to availability and to change without notice.

Free self-parking is not valid on your first visit to the parks. On-site hotels parking not included.

Parking and additional Annual Pass benefits and discounts do not apply. Blockout dates and prices are subject to change without notice. Pass is valid for one (1) year from date of first use for one (1) guest admission during regular theme park operating hours. All benefits subject to availability and to change without notice and cannot be combined with any other offers, promotions or discounts, and discounted renewed passes. Does not include admission to separately ticketed events, such as Halloween Horror Nights and Rock the Universe or venues within either theme park, Universal CityWalk®, or on-site hotels. Parks, attractions, or entertainment may: close due to refurbishing, capacity, weather or special events; change operating hours; and otherwise change or be discontinued without notice. Additional restrictions may apply. Passes are non-transferable, non-refundable and may not be copied or resold.

In case you're wondering if you can book the hotel with the AP discount immediately, yes. You don't even have to buy the pass when you book the hotel with APH. For most people thinking of the AP, I say to wait until there's a discount, book it, and then at some point between booking and your trip buy the AP.

Thank you both. Yes, I wondered if I could go ahead and make the reservation using the APH code -- even though I may not have the pass in my hand when we get to the hotel? But I would have proof that I had paid for it.

Yes, anyone can book the APH rate. When you check in, they may or may not ask for proof. If they do, the printed "voucher" may suffice, but if not, once you activate your pass, you can always check back in with the front desk to show proof you have an AP.

We've booked AP rates at Disney several times and I can't remember them ever asking to see it (although they probably have a record of it on file). But Universal may be different.
