So, DS#2 just turned 2. We've not started potty training at all. We are going to Disney in September. I could forsee these 2 possibly bumping into each other. This is his first trip going with us. Does anybody have any experiences with this? Scared to death thinking about it. :scared1:

Thank you in advance!

My youngest had just started using the potty not long before our last trip.

I was really worried. We had a 23 hour drive, so he wore a pull-up in the car. We didn't have any issues until we got within about 40 mins of Disney. He had to poop, but would only pee every time we stopped. He is one of those who likes to "take his time", so we brought the little potty with us to use in the room. He would sit there for half an hour or more and that was not going to work with 5 people sharing one toilet in a hotel room. ;)

We brought pull-ups with us, but he only wore them the first day and a half before we decided they were really unnecessary. None of my three kids have ever had an accident in public and they were all completely out of diapers/pull-ups within a week. Don't worry about something that may not be an issue for you at all. :upsidedow

If you want him potty trained before you go, I would try fairly soon. Then when you are there, have him try before you get in line for anything, expecially if it looks like a long line. Otherwise have him try every 2 hours or so, depending on how often he goes at home. I would think in Sept it would be no problem at all!

My dd was trained at 2.5, and my ds was trained at 25 months. My best advice is not to use pull ups. Just put them in underwear and they will be trained in a few days. I would give him at least 2 months of being trained before taking him to Disney.

My DS decided in the car on the way to the airport for our WDW trip that he was going to be potty trained. Had one accident the entire week. We couldn't believe it. He wore diapers/pull ups the entire week because we didnt' pack any underwear and were in shock, but he stayed dry. He was 2.5. He was #2 trained since shortly after his 2nd birhtday, but showed no real indication for #1. We were going to start training in earnest when we got back from the trip.

I personally would wait till after your trip to even get it started. I'm one who thought diapers were easier than finding every bathroom known to man, being on the complete opposite end of a store when the need struck, etc. My DD was older when we first went to Disney, but I can imagine how fun it would be to FINALLY approach a ride/attraction when all of a sudden, "I have to potty!". :sad2: I was not in any hurry to train DD for all these reasons, and she pretty much did it herself just before she turned 3. She had exactly one accident, and that was at night. It was the easiest thing in the world - IMHO, because I let her decide when it was time. If I were in your shoes, I would be secretly hoping that time would be AFTER your Sept trip! ;)

Start now and get it done before Sept. That is a long way away! You are also hitting the best time to Potty train, the summer because there are a lot less clothes to deal with. If you get him trained this spring that gives you at least 3 months to have it down 100%.

Work on going to a lot of different public restrooms this summer so he gets used to different bathrooms, toilets. ( although when out with a newly trained person they seem to like to visit everyone in town anyway!)
follow the go before every long line or show. I agree with the pull ups. I only used them for a plane ride when they had just started or in the car when they were real little in case they fell asleep for the night.
My DS was a bit over 2 when we went and had no accidents at all. Disney has a lot of bathrooms!

You can do this and like I said you have a long time till Sept.
