Hi, my neice just began potty training and we will be in Disney in Sept. Does anyone have any advice for potty training while at Disney?
Thanks!

There was a thread a while back that suggested putting a post it over the auto flush so that the toilet would not flush and startle the child. I thought that was a good idea. Just to let you know we just returned from Disney and the bathrooms were very clean and although the parks were very crowded we never waited to use a restroom. My suggestion would be to make sure that you visit the restroom often and before getting into a line. And don't stress, accidents happen. Have a wonderful trip!:goodvibes

My little girl was 2 yrs 4 months on our Disney trip and did really well with the potty training... she had been in panties with few ooopps since just before 2... but with all going on in Disney I really didn't know how well she would do. She did great! There were a couple of times that she tried to use the restroom and couldn't for what ever reason and there were a couple times when we had to get out of line to use the restroom... but not only with her but my 4 year old as well! Just remind her that she has to stay dry so you can see and do all you want to! I had extra clothes in the stroller and we never used them!

Have fun!

I hate to say it- but this is the exact reason why we're WAITING to start potty training. I was thinking about starting this summer (he isn't showing signs of wanting to be potty trained- but I know summertime is a good time to let them run around nekkie and try to get the potty training going!)- but then Hubby pointed out that in the parks, it might get tricky.

So we're waiting.

GOOD LUCK :D I'm sure plenty of parents have been there during that time and did fine- or have great stories to share ;)

How funny you ask this becasue we are going in Sept also and are *trying* to potty train.
He just was not interested FORever. And, we thought we would try the naked thing because nothing was working. He knew when he went in his diaper but did not care. That is very frustrating. So, we thought we would give it one last try before we give up till after our Sept trip. He has been doing the "nekki"(as PP stated) for about 4 or 5 days and has only had 1 accident like that. Now, pull ups at nap and bed time are a dif. story (although he did just now wake up dry from his nap for the 1st time:) .)

I am hesitant still to go anywhere outside the house without a pull up on. He for some reason has a problem going #2 in the toilet..he is scared...????

Anyway, I am in the same boat and unless he shows huge improvement and we can trust him enough to leave the house with undies and no pull up, I am not sure what we will do in Disney.
I love the post it over the sensor thing b/c it does scare most children.

Maybe if things aren't going super well try those new feel and learn pull ups that let the child "feel" that they have wet but still absorb?

Anyone else have any ideas? Good question OP!:thumbsup2

While in DW last year I was potty training my ds. He did awsome. I now know where everybathroom is in every park but he did so good because I told him he got to use Mickey's potty. This year my dd is in the process of potty training and she keeps telling me she gets to use the same potties as the princesses do. Good luck to everyone going while potty training. Just expect accidents and it won't ruin your day...

Definitely take the little post-its ....I even use them at home since so many places have change to auto flush. The other thing I carry is the flushable wipes - DD asks if I have them with me if she has to poopy while we're out - I think toilet paper (Especially in public restrooms) is just too rough for her. I will usually just toss them in the trash instead of the potty (even though they ARE flushable) unless I just forget. The one other thing is any time anyone in your party goes potty just make it a rule everyone goes potty. And last but not least - make them at least "try" before any really long lines. The good thing about September is in the 3 or 4 different years we have went in September I think the longest line we ever saw was 30 minutes. It's not quite so devastating to leave a 10 minute line to go potty as it is a 1 hour line.

Oh - and reminding DD that she could tell Cinderella she was a big girl now because she used the potty now was HUGE for us. It worked great.

If she's potty training now (mid-July), I would hope she'd be trained by September. If she's not trained before then, IMO, then potty training was started too early. If you wait til a child is ready, it shouldn't take that long.
My DD trained in one day, & DS took about a week...but I waited until they were ready. DD was almost 3yo, & DS was 3years and 3 months. Honestly, I'd try training her now but is she isn't trained by August...I'd just wait until after the trip.
Just make sure you carry extra clothes with you in Disney!
**Have a great time!

This is what I am doing. With DS almost 10, we had him trained in about 1 day and he never had an accident, even at night:banana: . BUT, we waited till he was ready and HE wanted to do it.
This one is a bit more stubborn about it and for some reason scared, but he is doing well.
We decided we will keep doing things like we are now (as stated in my above post) for another week or so and then if it just isn't consistent we will stop. I am hoping that when we venture out with him in uderwear  for the first time that it will be a turning point for us all.
