Hello everyone

My wife and I are considering to purchase a resale DVC for Copper Creek. Both of us are a big WDW fan and loved Aulani where we see ourselves visiting often. However, as much as we like WDW, we don't anticipate visiting every year as we would like to travel to other destinations. We concluded that we would visit every other year and rent out points when we are not visiting Disney World so at a minimum, we can recoup the annual dues. But this is based on the assumption that when we rent out points, we find a potential buyer every time. As much as I hope it's easy to find someone, I don't know how true this is. So I want to ask to all owners who rented points out, how successful were you in finding a buyer every time you try to rent your points? Were you able to rent out your points every single time or is there a struggle? Is it safe to assume that there will always be someone who will buy my points? I know not everyone who visits Disney World are aware of renting DVC points and I don't know how big the market is. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

I really thought that non-owners would be scared off from renting after the pandemic shutdown. But with Disney hotel prices rising to outrageous heights, renting is more popular than ever.

However, I don't recommend buying with the intention of renting your points out every other year. It's great to have the option when you find yourself with extra points on hand every once in a while.

Instead, I would buy half the number of points and bank them every other year. That way, you have 2 years of points to use on the year that you do visit.

I’ve owed since 2011 and when I’ve needed to rent my points have never had any trouble. Have rented myself directly to renters and used a broker. Fairly easy to rent for double your dues. It does take planing, time, and effort.

I dont think you should have an issue, especially if you decide to go through a broker. While its less money, it can be worth it in the end.

If purchasing only enough points for every other year the points purchased should reflect the current borrowing restriction. So if a week's stay = 180 points you need to purchase 120 points as currently only 60 points would be borrow-able.

Yes, but you can bank 100% of your points. So if a week's stay is 180 points, you buy 90 and bank them. Next year, you have 180.
