PotC, Pig guy missing

I was working on my trip report from last week, and remembered this little piece of information: you know the scene in PotC where the guy is lying around with the pigs who are grunting away happily to the song? Well, the pigs are still there, grunting, but the guy is missing.
I guess he's getting a bit of a cleanup, or maybe refilling his rum supply, or something.

I wonder if that's a new way to do some refurbishment without closing the attraction? He was also missing on one of my trips earlier this year and the guy with all the hats was also missing at one point. I think both were there in August, so it'll be interesting to see if anything else disappears and if the pig guy reappears!

That's strange! He was definitely there on our trip at the end of August.

Yes, it's my understanding that it's quite common for PotC animatronics to be removed for refurbishment one at a time, for short periods of time.

I noticed his absence on this trip but Pig Guy is back and with his buddies as of today!

I kind of like that they are refurbing like that-the needed maintenance gets done and the guests still get to enjoy the rest of the ride. Ride closures can be a big bummer-especially if its one of your faves and you dont get to the parks that often so its nice that they have this option so people don't have to miss out.

I remember POTC being closed when they were adding Jack into it and I remember having a little boy who was totally bummed that he couldn't ride it and we wouldn't be back for a year (which is 1/3 of your life when you are 3 years old so it seems impossibly long)

Every once and a while they will take a pirate out for a little refurb. Last year Spanky was missing for a little bit also (The shorter, rounder of the singing pirate trio).

Is that his name? I always remember him best of almost any of the animatronics other than Jack Sparrow. He's so close you can really see his features; kinda extra-weird grin, and blond, which is unusual, too.

He's the Irish Tenor to us!

In all honesty I'm not quite sure if that's his actual name, I just remember when he was missing there was a thread much like this one asking where Spanky was haha!
