OK so POTC will be down while we are visiting, DD really wanted dinner at BB.
Will it be down also and will it be worth it to have dinner there without pirates running?

Good question. I would guess that they won't mess with the bayou scene unless absolutely necessary, but who knows. I wonder if you can call DL reservations and ask.

Interesting question. I've been in there while POTC is down temporarily, but the water is still running, the fireflies are still shining, etc. So with a planned refurb, hmm....

We were there when they were doing the Jack Sparrow additions, and BB was closed as well, for the entire duration of the refurb.

Hopefully they did that so they could refurb the BB, and maybe they won't this time. Otherwise it looks like we won't be dining there during our October trip.

We also had dinner there while the ride was down temporarily. They kept the fireflies going and stuff. But they also had the lights on over in the loading area. It was the only time we've eaten there too. Would have been better I think with the boats going by. But you still got the whole atmosphere. My guess is unless they are refurbing that scene it will be similar to what we had.

Thanks for the answers, I think without the boats running it just won't be the same and for the price I am going to skip it this time.

Any suggestions on where we should have an nice dinner instead of BB?

Does it have to be in the park? Your DD may like Rainforrest Cafe if she hasn't tried it before! The food is not as elegant though!

We have a Rainforest cafe about 20 minutes from us so we have ate there before. It's ok but we can visit anytime.

Dinner doesn't have to be in the park, POTC is her favorite ride and we were looking forward to the BB.

Well I think that even w/out the boats running that it would still be good for the atmosphere and such. Whenever I eat there, I usually get seated farther away from the water so I'll sometimes forget that the boats are there unless someone takes pics w/ flash or ppl are yelling. There's still all the sights and the bayou sounds that make the Blue Bayou fun.
Other than that, Cafe Orleans has good food and you might see someone that looks like a pirate passing by lol.

When POTC was being changed, even the water was not in the bayou, not to mention, it look like a typhoon hit the place, I have seen pictures of the work, and it is not pretty at all, to be looking at that, while you are eating, so I figure that is one of the reasons the BB, was closed as well, that and I do not doubt for safety reasons as well. Seriously, I almost cried when I saw those pictures. I am hoping that the movie add-ins, set sail at some point, either in their own ride attraction, or elsewhere, for I would very much love to see the POTC return to its former, uncensored glory!

Well I prefer them not to be there. They really have no proper place in that attraction, and when I visit the pirates, I do not dwell on the takeover, otherwise, I cannot enjoy, what is still one of my favorite rides.

I hear they are going to put some movie tie-ins on Haunted Mansion after the Christmas overlay comes down. They are gonna get wax figurines of Eddie Murphy and place em in the dining room with the dancing ghosts. I hear they are dubbing quotes from the movie into the audio stream on the doombuggies!... :thumbsup2

I love the movie (and own it on DVD)...but PLEASE tell me that it's a joke!

After all the POTC censoring, they still have a half naked lady behind the bar. Were they just morally opposed to the objectification of men (as one of the "chasings" was a woman chasing a man)?

As for BB, I've been twice, along the waterfront both times, and honestly there wasn't much difference between having people in the boats and not having people in the boats (POTC was closed the first time I was there due to rain flooding they system). If BB is open, I say go for it, and if not, then go for Cafe Orleans.

Not true. HM movie was a total flop. The reason PotC add ins were put into place was because the Pirates franchise was raking in the dough. People will pay to see Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa, but people aren't interested in seeing Eddie Murphy. Disney is business, and they will surely not take a dive like that that will only lose them money.

That is totally what I had figured, for that would really be cause for a revolution.
