I rode the ride this morning, and although i have some problems with the things they have removed, everything that they have added fits nicely.

the queue all looked the same, except the turnstiles have been replaced with the walk-through laser counters. the skeletons were still stalemated in the dungeon, the cave still had the sounds of pirates burying treasure...i didn't go through the left queue, because i've always liked the right one better...guess i should try it now tho.

loading area was the same as far as i could tell.

the caverns have the new davy jones fog effect, which is definatley a keeper. the helmsman was updated at disneyland with some cool lightning effects. i heard thunder as we passed by, but saw no lightning....hopefully it will be there before the 7th. Also, they removed the skull warning you 'there be rough waters ahead', so now you just float through a blank tunnel to get to the falls. I have to believe that they are simply working on the skull and it will be in place before the 7th.

the battle scene was nearly unchanged, with barbarosa of course as the new captain. the effects seemed almost the same to me.

the dunking scene was updated with new, longer dialouge...the only beef i have with it is that is means that Carlos's wife doesn't constantly pop her head out of the window to get shot at. We only saw her pop out once, and that was looking over our shoulders as we passed the scene. Her persistance to keep him quiet was a good joke that has had some of it's humor removed. I believe that there are a few new pirates here too. Jack is here in the empty spot between the two scenes, and you can see the rope he has made out of some woman's undergarments (likely mrs. Carlos's) to escape out of a window and hide between two dresses.

the auction scene looks the same...i think they have added a lady-in-waiting...there are now 4 where I thought there were 3. not a major change.

the chase scene has added jack in the barrel, and the pooped pirate now has a treasure map that jack is eyeing by hiding in the barrel. I thought that the pc changes (women chasing pirates that stole food, rather than pirates chasing women for obvious reasons) were being undone, but alas, there were pirates being chased by women.

The burning scene looks the same...new effects on some places...the hairylegged pirate's mug is now flaming (that must mean that the pirates favorite rum is Bacardi 151 lol). I think I noticed a new pirate here too...but none of the new ones are doing anything significant....i might just be making them all up.

The jail scene is the same, with a new dog.

The final scene, the treasure room is much better than before. i never really liked the old scene here, because there were no jokes in it really....plus you would sometimes sit there for several minutes waiting for the boats to move along. The new one has Jack leaning back in a chair talking to a parrot and singing Yo Ho Yo Ho in a room full of treasure. Really nice animatronics.

I've heard that there is not enough room in the WDW version of pirates for the Davy Jones fog effect, and the talking skull. They must mean that they audio would all mix together....but i don't think so. I don't remember being able to hear the skull until i was right at it, at the top of the falls. if they were going to be leaving the skull out, certainly they would have moved the fog effect to the top of the falls to replace it, not just left a blank space at a critical point of the ride.

Also, the barker parrot needs to be put somewhere. i understand that they want the ride to seem more serious now, but there is still room for it. why not in the gift shop somewhere, or around the corner towards fronteirland to welcome people from that direction? it seems pointless to leave it out completely with so much space to fill. Having a 'serious' pirate ride right next to the Jungle Cruise and across from the Tiki Room might be a little too much to ask for.

Interesting, and very detailed, thank you!

Just read another post that said the fog effect WAS there, so maybe they had it turned off when you rode? :confused3

I rode it yesterday and the fog effect was great!!! I know this was still considered a soft opening and cm's said they were still working out the kinks. The ride looked great and you could smell the new wood in the loading area. the Jack Sparrow AA was incredible, I can't wait to stop next Saturday on our way home and ride it again!!!

What about that small "dip" at the beginning of the ride. From what I read it doesn't sound like it is there.

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see a movie character dominate this classic ride?? I loved the movie, but this ride didn't and doesn't need Jack Sparrow!

Hi......you forgot to mention the beach scene at the very beginning. It looks like a new skeleton was added right next to a large flag, forgot what it says but I saw a picture of it in another thread. The seagulls are still there as well as the crabs by the water, and the skeleton standing up withthe seagull in its nest on his head. I think he might have a sword through him. On the right side there is another skeleton steering a ship.
I rode on Saturday but can't remember if Davy Jones was first, then the skeletons, then the drop.....I was too excited about being on the new version to take it all in. I'll just have to go back and ride again.

I think you're definitely in the minority on this one. The Jack Sparrow AAs are state of the art and they have didn't modify the storyline very much in order to add the changes. Plus, it satisfies those who had never been on the ride prior to seeing the movie, as they were wondering where Jack Sparrow was prior to the rehab.
