Postponing or Cancelling your wedding

What happens to the vouchers you get for a wishes wedding if you postpone or cancel your wedding?

Can they still be used?

I haven't heard first hand what actually happens but my guess would be you could use the vouchers but you will loose your deposit and that will offset the costs. You do not get the vouchers until after you sign your contract and send in your deposit.

What do you mean by any other ideas? As in not lose your deposit and still keep the APs? I doubt there is any way around that. I believe the contract states that the only way you will get your deposit back is if a DF passes away.

There were a couple girls on there that had to postpone their wedding. I think Lynn changed her wishes wedding to an escape and Erinlovesmelvin did cancel and is now planning another wedding, maybe you could pm them.

When I mean Ideas - i mean if anyone else has postponed or cancelled what happened to their vouchers - i know you will lose the deposit if you cancel but what about the season pass vouchers

I'm sure the vouchers will still work. Essentially you have paid for your APs from your deposit money so that really makes it no different than going to the regular ticket booth and buying an AP. I'm sure thats Disney's way of avoiding an AP scam.

So what I get out of it is that if I cancelled now, I have to pay $5000 (half my minimum) and our total for all the rooms Disney has in our room block. Or is it half the room charges? The total for all our rooms is a little over $5600.

Once we got within that cancellation time frame we would always joke that it was cheaper to get a divorce at that point. It was funny, anyone who heard us thought we were crazy.

It's the full room charges for your room-night minimum plus half the minimum expenditure.

If, for example your room-night minimum was 50 nights, regardless of how many rooms you actually blocked (since you can block up to 20% more than the minimum), Disney would charge you the nightly rate at the cheapest hotel in your block multiplied by 50 nights plus either the $2,000 deposit or half the overall minimum expenditure for your date.

I can't really think of a scenario when they'd do #1, since it seems like half the minimum is always going to be greater than the price of the deposit...

Ok so its by the lowest room rate. That is a little better....

I had it figured that if we cancelled now that it would be $10600 cause I had figured on all room rates. Well actually 12600 with our deposit.

Now it would only be 7655 plus our deposit for a total of 9655 if we cancelled.

And according to the contract, if you want to postpone, then you have to pay the cancellation fee by the due date.

We were only going for the minimum. We would pay almost that if we cancelled. And we are still over 60 days out. It just goes up from there.....

Ok, I hate to be the one that knows this, but I've done it. First of all, as people speculated, the passes are yours and do still work - we did 3 trips on them but yeah, that cost to disney is covered in the deposit you lose.

We lost our deposit and paid $2500 when we cancelled ours 60 days out 2 years ago. It looks like they've tweaked the contract now to 50% instead of a flat fee. Because it was only 60 days out most of the guests that had planned to go still went, so we were able to count those rooms and didn't have to pay the room penalty. It was an expensive decision for sure!
