I love this time of year because I can buy myself Gift Cards and get something free in return!

I only buy those for places I eat at during the year anyway so it's a no-brainer.

Wednesday I picked up a $25 GC at Del Taco (mostly a West Coast Chain-so much better than Taco Bell!) This is one of our fav. fast food locations-we will usually hit it before, or after, going to Disneyland. DD12 and I can eat there for less than $5 most of the time.

They have 3 offers right now-
Get 2 free tacos with $10 GC
Get 2 free soft chicken tacos with $15 GC
Or get 1 free combo meal (up to $6.99 value) with $25 GC.

So while standing there waiting to order I quickly did the math and bought the $25 GC. I did use the coupon for a $6.99 meal (2 fat chicken tacos, 1 fry, and 1 drink) With tax it comes to almost a 30% return ($7.49 for $25)

The 2 free tacos for $10 GC is a 12.7% return and the 2 soft tacos on $15 card is a 14% return.

The $25 GC was definitely the best deal!

Most of the free items have a expiration date so make sure to pay attention. Seems like 1-31-12 and 1-29-12 are the 2 most popular dates. Also, there may be restrictions on when you can first get your free item. Turns out at the Del the sign said I had to wait until next visit. I didn't know that and neither did the cashier.

If I can't use the free item right away then I will buy the GC first and then use that to buy my meal.

So what GC deal have you found?

Edited-just looked at Del Taco on FB and they are in more states than I thought. Even Florida!

BJ's had a 4 pack of $25 PizzeriaUno's gift cards for $80. So the last card is really only $5 for a $25 gift card.

I just got an email from Del Taco and starting at Midnight on Cyber Monday (11/28) I assume they mean midnight on Sunday, you can order their gift cards online and get double the free food! Only available online and only available on Monday, the 28th.

So you get a 60% return on the $25 card (up to $15 in free food), 28% on the $15 card and 25% on the $10 card.

Looks like I'm going to have to order a few online.

They are also offering free shipping and personalized greeting.
