I know we have the large thread with experiences and photos in this forum but it appears that almost all if not all of it is dedicated to places in the park or downtown disney. Any places OUTSIDE the park within walking distance that any of you go to every time you're at the park?

I know they have Cheesecake factory within walking distance and the new outdoor mall with some good places too.

popcorn::

I second Mimi's :worship: for the best food for the price. 2nd choice would be Bubba Gumps.

Worst is Captain Kidds...

I second MiMi's. The muffins are a must!!! Especially the spice one. I also LOVE their soups.

See we thought Mimi' was only ok, sort of a upscale Denny's more like Carrow's with only ok food and it was a bit dirty when we went.

At Gardenwalk you can find PF Chang's pretty good asian/chinese, I know lots of people love it!

Cheesecake Factory which I love just for the Avocado eggrolls and Oreo Cheesecake YUMMY!!!!!!!!

My other favorite sadly is not walking distance but its not far down Harbor Buca Di Beppo, it is family style Italian. It has huge portions and great food. I would so recommend taking a bus or Taxi down for some yummy italian food!

I Hop the Rooty Tooty fresh and fruity!! DCA the CORN DOG it is that big!!

See, now I wouldn't consider Garden Walk within WALKING DISTANCE. I mean, I guess it could be, but it's a LOOONG walk.

Plus, it's just basic chain restaurants that you find all over the country: PF Chang's, Bubba Gump Shrimp, Cheesecake Factory, etc.

I have to say, I think some of the best food at DLR is actually outside of the parks, BUT part of the DLR.

Among them:

-Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen
-Naples Ristorante
-Hook's Point (DLH)
-Steakhouse 55 (DLH)
-ESPN Zone (when there are NO sporting events going on)
-Whitewater Snacks (GCH)

Mimi's was good (veggie burgers), but we really liked Millie's when we stopped by on our way to hojo and picked up an order of macaroni and cheese with garlic bread and a salad, and not only was it only 11 bucks, but it FILLED the THREE of us. Voracious 4 year old, hungry me, slightly hungry hubby. Awesome.

And the veggie burger + chocolate cake at Coco's were also good, though that's a totally different direction (it's on Katella instead of Harbor).

I agree some of the best are part of DLR. However, this thread is good for us because we will have a black out day while we are there and may not end up at DLR at all that day. Many of those chains we don't have near us like Cheesecake Factory or P.F. Chang's. I'd like to try one of them. I think we will pass on Mimi's though. Sorry. :duck: :rotfl:

Tiffy's. I think it's about a mile from the main entrance of DL, on Katella. I love their turkey BLT with avocado! They've got lots of menu choices, as well as great homemade ice cream. There are neat aerial photos of the DL area from the 50s hanging on the wall, and each table has one of those peg jump games to keep you entertained. ;) Oh, and if you sit by the window you get a nice view of Paradise Pier.

Mimi's and Millie's. I love the tortilla soup and the individual little pies at Millie's.

At MiMi's -- corn chowder and a muffin. Their other food is good too, but this is what I consistently order at MiMi's.

mmm me too!
They pack it very nicely if you get it "to go", complete with several choices form the bread basket.
Great to snuggle into bed watching TV, resting the tired toes and slurp that yummyness.

And I save the carrot bread to have in the morning.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Darn gotta add that to my "must do" list. :thumbsup2

Another vote for Mimi's. I love their quiche. Comes with fruit, salad and a muffin. Yummy.

We always eat a few times at Mimi's. Even when we had to drive there from another hotel not close enough to walk! Now don't laugh....when we were there in July, I had their turkey dinner.... :lmao: I know, I know.... but it was late so not too hot out, and it just sounded so good...and it was!! Absolutely amazing! the best turkey dinner I've had other than my own! and talk about a huge meal!! far too much, so there were plenty of leftovers for a turkey sandwich the next day! :thumbsup2 we really like their ceasar salad too...
woops should have mentioned, Hookes Pointe and Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland hotel, Yamabuki in the Paradise Pier hotel, Naples in Downtown Disney, Storytellers cafe in the Grand Californian, the sushi place in Garden Walk....can not remember what the place is called though...

Here's another raised hand for Millie's. I wish I've had more opportunities to try Mimi's, but I've only eaten there once. We've tried going there a few times, but the wait time can be long during peak periods. It's pretty popular, as evidenced by the many posts here. :)

More recently, I've gone to the Anaheim Gardenwalk frequently. It is a longer walk, but certainly very do-able. I've probably walked there at least a 7 or 8 times since the Gardenwalk opened. I last ate at the Cheesecake Factory on Super Bowl Sunday--saw the final thrilling quarter from the bar area while eating our dinner. And I also love eating at CPK. I'm eager to try Bar Louie on our next visit.

Our friend Zoemakes5 suggested we go eat dinner at Tony Roma's just across the street from the park. We had great appetizers, yummy ribs and delicious corn fritter. It was a nice sit down meal, in a comfy booth.
With great company!

Outside the parks we love Mimi's, Millie's is good too, the Denny's is good but avoid the IHOP (HUGE price inflation) and Captain Kidd's (it's disgusting). In DTD we love Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and the Rainforest Cafe. Down in the GardenWalk (which is walking distance, it just depends on how far you want to walk, we walked from the Peacock Suites and walked past the GardenWalk daily in Jan) there is a Bubba Gump's, Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs, CA Pizza Kitchen, down Harbor into Garden Grove is a Joe's Crab Shack and a Red Robin. I love eating at any of these but the ones farther down Harbor we drive to.
