post office question

I think this might have happened with a small package at my work.. nothing major and no big deal if it's missing.. but I was wondering..

What would happen to a package if it was dropped off at USPS with a prepaid label for UPS? It would have had a return address on the outside.

Two packages were shipped USPS with the prepaid labels. The company is telling me that only one got there. Then they mentioned checking with UPS about the shipment. I know I dropped them at USPS, but then I'm wondering if they were indeed UPS stickers. There's no chance any of them would have travelled though if that were the case right? What do you think would happen to them?

Thankfully like I said it is not valuable or important.. just can't figure out what the heck we did.

The post office employees would have called UPS and had them come over to pick up the package. It happens more than you would believe.

I used to work for the USPS, in three different offices, and this was what we always did.

Thanks. The company I shipped it to said they sent us UPS labels, but I know I dropped it at the USPS. One package managed to get there though. I wonder what ever happened to the other one. It was months ago. Guess next time I need to pay more attention. (My boss just handed me the boxes and asked me to drop them off. Never occurred to me it wasn't USPS. Oh well.)

Guess it makes sense that they would work together some if this happends often. Kinda like when people drop off school library books to the public library and they return them for you. Good thing I have never done that..

well at my local post office there are fedex and ups drop boxes outside, my guess is they would just put them there. but dont know.

weird that one made it and one didnt.

Did they keep track of the tracking numbers on the labels they sent?

They even work together to deliver some packages, where it starts with UPS and then is delivered by USPS.
