Thanx think will just have a look round town and see what I can find. Last year took some travellers cheques and some euros but think might just opt for euros this time. I can't remember but I think we were charged commission at the currency exchange in DLRP when changing the travellers cheques?
I've never taken T/Cs to DLRP but I expect they do charge to change them.
We always take some euros in cash for things like ice-creams, drinks, odds and ends, tipping etc but put everything else on a Nationwide CC as, like Jukeboxs said, they give the bank rate not the tourist rate and don't load a charge on it. We also got rates averaging 1.27 in August whereas DH's work colleague who went a few days after us used another CC (not sure which one) and ended up with rates of about 1.18 on his.
We always take back up credit cards too, I would hate to be totally reliant on just the one in case anything went wrong.
