Possible to get Virtual Line for Hagrid while in the Hard a Rock Hotel?

We’ll be at HRH in about 2 weeks and am trying to figure out the VL process for Hagrids. Is it possible to make a reservation from the app while I’m at the hotel or do I need to go to City Walk or be in the parks? Also what time does the app start allowing one to make reservations?
Thanks!

Agree with PP. Drop time is not consistent each day (i.e., not at 8:45 on the dot), but should occur 10-15 minutes before park opening.

Universal does not release all times for the day at once and there are more drops throughout the day. Often, the app will say no reservations are available. Keep checking and more times eventually should appear (be quick though - they go fast). When times appear, you’ll typically see 1-3 time slots available (each 30 minutes). First thing in the morning, you’ll likely see time slots between 9:00am and 10:30-ish. The same thing happens as more are released through the day (several 30 minute time slots for a 90-120 minute window).

We will have 10 people in our group. How hard will it be for one of us to get it for all 10? Should we all try it at the same time?

I'm pretty sure one person can book up to 10 people. Yes you should all try at the same time. If you accidentally end up with more than one reservation at the same time you can just delete one. If you end up with different times you can either delete one or ride twice.

Also want to add that while it seems like they usually only release a few hours at a time, oddly enough today at 10:30 on the app they released times from 11 am to 4 pm. I'd never seen times that far out before and thought it was odd, wish I would have thought to grab a screenshot.

Well I take it back I just checked and right now at 12:40 there are two times available 12:45-1:15 and 12:55-1:25, but it only goes up to 8 people, not 10. I had no problem grabbing one of the times and then putting in 8 people just to see if it would work and it did. I then deleted it since I'm not actually riding with 8 people lol.

When I looked at fast and furious virtual que it can be up to 10 people, but it would appear that hagrids only allows 8 people. So you'll have to split your party 5 and 5 and hope for overlapping times.

Thank you!
So, we grab the time first and then enter the number? if so, that's good. I was praying it wasn't like fast passes and there may be openings for some of us , but not all. In the case of the two times you seen, they overlap so we would all still be able to go together. :)

What you do is go into the wait times on the app, click on Hagrid's, then hit Virtual Line Pass- Reserve. Then the available times will pop up as little boxes of half hour increments. You pick the time you want and then just above that is a slide bar with a dot that you slide across for how many people you want and that numbers from 1 to 8 people. Then you hit the reserve button on the bottom of the screen and it will pop up with the QR code screen and show you your reserved time as well as how many people you reserved for. It's fairly intuitive and easy. I think if you have several people trying you should have success in getting two different spots for 5 people with the same or close to the same ride time.

Just an update for those who care- even though they showed times as late as 5 pm at 10:30 this morning, they still released more times several times today. At 3:10 I was able to book for as soon as 3:20 or as late as 5:10 with a few spots in between available as well. Release times still appear to be random to me. The key seems to be to check the app frequently and remember that refreshing the app is your friend.

@Elliemay2 I should add that the slide bar for number of people and the time slot boxes show up on the same screen at the same time. I played around with it today just to see and it doesn't appear to make any difference whether you select number of people first or time slot first. For example, if I slid the bar from 1 person to 8 people none of the time slots disappeared. And vice versa if I selected different time slots the bar still slid to 8 people or anywhere I wanted it to without any problem. So I don't think it matters which you click first.

Hope this helps! I'll try to post some screenshots from my phone showing the slide bar and the time slots

You'll notice that on the bottom of the last pic it has a button to Change Return Time. If you click on that it will hold your current spot in line and show you other times that are available. So if you guys don't end up with the same return times, one of you should click on change time and see if you can change it to get your times closer. I've played with the app quite a bit and clicking back and forth between the screens will show various availability as other people change their return times or cancel their slots.

I'm glad you asked this. We will be saying at Dockside and I was wondering the same thing. Glad to hear we can do it from wherever we are onsite.
