Possible to get an upgrade for rented VGC points?

Just curious. My wife and I are staying at the VGC in Feb (studio room), and wondered whether it is possible to request an upgrade on checkin. We rented points through a broker that advertises here, which turned out to be a better deal than a studio room through DL itself.

Anyone have any experience with this?

All the villas are upgraded, all have views. If you're thinking upgrade to a 1 or 2 bedroom? I highly doubt they would do that.

Yeah, that is kind of what I was thinking (from a 1 to 2 bdr). I am at least hoping to get a room on the upper level so we can see DCA :)

You can definitely ask for a room on a high floor - all studios cost the same number of points regardless of where they are located. There usually aren't any free upgrades in room size though (to a 1BR or 2BR). The dangerous thing is if you ask for an upgrade, they can grant it to you, but then charge the difference in points. Since they aren't your points (you are renting) that could get tricky. I don't know if the front desk CMs can do that when the name on the account isn't the same as the guest. Still, I wouldn't ask and risk it.

Definitely feel free to request a high floor though - and enjoy it! :thumbsup2

You have paid points for a DVC room, so there is no upgrading ie we have a wonderful 2 bedroom, would you like it for the same price. We rented a one bedroom in August and it was fantastic even on the 3rd floor. You will not get a good WOC view from any of the room in the DVC wing. You can see it just not like it is supposed to be seen. The earlier you check in the better change you have of getting the studio located where you want, and if it is a busy time, the less chance you have. Good luck.

.. I don't know what was going on during our last visit, but we checked in at 7:00 am and our villa wasn't ready until after 5:00 pm..that was a bit rough.

Did they give you the "Ready after 4" speach? I was grumpy when I checked in at 3:45 and was told it wasn't ready. The funny thing was we were in the lobby hanging out when we got the text. 5 mins to walk to the villa...No one from Mousekeeping in sight on that floor.

It didn't seem that busy, lines were small all week..we came in on a Wednesday.:confused3 They told us after 4:00, but on our previous trip rooms were ready about 2:00. When we hadn't heard by 4:00 we went to the lobby to check and were told it wasn't ready...sooo..we sat and waited and was after 5:00 before we got our magical text. We had been on a train all night the previous night and were ready to relax..it was odd and hopefully we won't get a repeat in January with a bunch of grandkids :scared1:

Thanks for all the advice. My wife and I get into LAX around 9am on a Wed in Feb, and are travelling to the GCH by limo from the airport, so I hope to be there by 11 at the latest. That should be before our room is ready, which is fine. We can grab some lunch, or hit the parks, or both!

On my visit December 5th, the 1-bedroom villa was not ready until 5:50PM.
I called the front desk at 3:00, 4:00, 5:00 and received a text message at 5:50.

We have the same plan - arrive at 9am to LAX on a Wednesday - but in May. We agree that our room won't be ready more than likely, but we can store our bags with Bell Services and hit the parks. We can't wait!!!
