Possible to book a 1 night stay to take advantage of bounceback?

Not sure what board this really belongs on, but thought would start here.

My question may be a bit unethical, but I have heard of people booking a 1 night stay at a value so they could take advantage of a bounceback offer, which made me think, could one accomplish this without actually staying that night? So it would be a "throw away" ressie. Not interested for myself, but have a friend who is trying to be creative with this.

TIA for any thoughts.

If I understand, you (or your friend) wants to book a disney room, assuming it would be at a value resort, check-in, but not stay the night, in hopes of getting a bounce back offer to save 20% or so on a future visit?

Two things I see. First bounce back offeres are not always available. I stayed at POFQ in june for 4 nights and did not get an offer the entire stay. Secondly, you are going to spend about $120 and at least an hour of time to check into a hotel room you dont need.

Bounce back offers ARE always available, despite the info not being found in the room. Call the ext (8844 I think?) from the room.

I read the OP as wanting to not check in at all, and book a bounce back. I don't think that is possible. I think they do actually have to check in (not just online, but in person) Not positive though. You may want to look on the subforum of the resorts board about room discounts. You can always find the current BB offer there also, and what dates it is available for.

Most people who book a "throw away" room do it so that they can get free Magic Bands, EMH for 2 days, free parking for those same days, and FP+ at 60 days while actually staying offsite. The cost of a "throw away" night at even a Value Resort is going to eat into any savings that you would get from a bounceback offer (which might not even be available).

ETA: The "bounceback" offer in my room at the Poly last December was a discount on an additional night added to my current stay.

At certain times of the year the offer is picked over leaving you with only expensive options. I do not think bouncebacks are much better than the options that are offered over the course of the year

YES! You understood me correctly and thanks for letting others know that the bounceback IS always available. It's unfortunate that isn't more of a widely known fact. I often wonder how many people are disappointed that their doesn't seem to be a bounceback in their room and thus can't take advantage of it. All that said, I have advised my friend that often the bounceback isn't better than a regular discount they could find throughout the year.

As a side note that might be useful info for folks - I am an AP and often rent DVC points which until very recently, was the best price by far that you can find for a deluxe resort. I recently found that my AP rate for some May dates is quite a bit better for a 1br unit somewhere like OKW or SSR, which shocked me (never seen that before). It seems that it is still the best price for studio units though.

1BR are in most cases not going to much cheaper renting DVC as compared to renting direct form Disney unless there is NO discount available for Disney. 1BR is also not the best use of a members points unless you have reason to want one as it is mostly the same points and sometimes a few more than renting 2 studios with the same occupancy rules as a studio... However as I said may not be the best value so no one gets offended... there are valid reasons such as simply wanting more space wanting a washer dryer wanting an additinal room for your child etc. in which case it has a lot of value to that person.
