DH and I decided this weekend that we'd really love to go to DLR in April (before we leave the west coast, as we will be moving - we just don't know entirely when we'll be moving). We had originally planned for 4/10-4/14, and we had booked the BWPPI. I realized today that there is an event here on 4/12 that I really should be present for, since I'm helping to plan it. The only other time in April we could go is the week of 4/17 (probably 4/17-4/21). We haven't really wanted to wait til May for a few reasons, but the biggest being that this move could happen at any time and while we can reasonably plan for a trip 2-3 weeks out, planning something for May could be dicey.

So my question is...will 4/17-4/21 be markedly more crowded than the 4/10-4/14 time frame? Or should we maybe try and push our trip up and maybe go a few days earlier than we were planning, so we could be back by 4/12? Or maybe leave 4/13, and then we'd end up with some weekend days in the trip?

Skipping the event on 4/12 is an option...it's not imperative that I be there, but since it will likely be my last event with that organization, and I'm helping with planning, I'd like to make it happen if I could.

We know it's high season, and crowds won't be low, but we'd like to avoid them being completely crazy if at all possible...and I know weekdays are generally better for that then weekends. Or does it not make that much of a difference during high season?

I think I'd try to go as early as possible, the closer you get to Easter, the busier it will get. As you already know, with Spring Breaks in full swing, the parks are gonna be busy anyways. I'd personally shoot to go prior to your event......that way, if you get news on your move......you'll have the event & the trip both taken care of!! Good luck & hope you have a *+*+*Magical*+*+* trip!!

You have a good point...we're thinking of maybe coming down this Sunday (4/3).

We're driving down from Idaho...we're thinking of driving the whole 14 hrs on Sunday, checking in that night and then hitting the parks Monday-Wednesday, leaving on Thursday. We'll stop in Vegas for the night on the way back.

Are we totally crazy? lol....I know DL doesn't require a whole lot of planning, but I'm not used to fairly big spontaneous trips like this!

That's a lengthy drive.........woof!

The weekdays will be better than the weekends, so I'd so go for it. If you have any of the sit-down restaurants you want to eat at, I'd call Disney Dining & get a ressie.....since it will be a busier time.

Hope you have lots of fun!!!

lol, yeah it is a lengthy drive:) We're kind of in limbo at the moment as DH waits for the paperwork so that he can start his new job....so we're thinking we might as well make one last trip while we're out here.

I'm a little :scared1: about making this happen in such a short time, I have to admit. But we also realized that the Armed Forces salute tickets are blocked out the week of 4/17...so unless we gamble and wait for May, this is really the best time to go. We also found out we could save almost $70 if we leave on Sunday, just from booking at the Tropicana instead of BWPPI (a lower per night rate, plus no daily parking fee)...

yeah, still thinking this is crazy :P

Crazy can be good, some of my favorite most memorable trips have been last minute "Hey why don't we go to...."
