Possible dilemma

I have reservations for a two bedroom villa at BCV, late May into June. I got a 2 BDR because my DS and DDIL were planning on going with DW, DD and me. My son informed me he wasn't sure if they'll be able to go yet, and I'm not sure exactly when he'll know. The room is a 2 BDR lock-off. If I decide to TRY to change to a 1 BDR, I have to cancel the reservation and hope that the room doesn't get reserved before MS can re-reserve it as 1 BDR, correct??

This is DD's senior trip and she really wants to stay at BCV and really wants DS and DDIL to go with us, hopefully they can. If they can't I really don't want to use that many points for a 2 BDR for just three people. Originally we also had DVC friends going too (in their own villa) and now they can't go either. Our traveling party has shrunk from as many as nine to just three for sure right now.

If my DD's heart is set on BCV we may just keep the 2 BDR if I can't alter the reservation without canceling.

MS can't necessarily change your 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroomm so you do risk losing the reservation. If you do want to change, I would as MS if a 1 bedroom was available.

If it turns out that family can't come, does your DD have a friend she would like to invite?

Best wishes. One of our DS's had to recently tell his DAunt that they will not be going to the Azores with her this summer, because a blessed event is due!;)

Bobbi,

My daughter actually had friends that had all discussed going and they all went during fall break without inviting her. She has a couple of close friends that she would consider, but unlikely that either could go. The friend idea is the best thought and that may still happen, but I'm keeping my finders crossed that DS and DDIL will still be able to go!

You would have to cancel and rebook if you wanted to drop a portion of the two bedroom. Unless you book a one bedroom and a studio and request that they connect (and that is just a request not a guarantee), you have a two bedroom villa. You have to cancel a two bedroom villa, not part of the two bedroom villa.

Plus if there is a waitlist for a one bedroom or studio or two bedroom, the people on the waitlist get first dibs on it.

:grouphug:It isn't easy growing up. I'm sorry your DD had "friends" like that. Yes, I hope your DS and DDiL can go.

Or you could do what we did when our DS wasn't able to join us, enjoy the 2BR without them. We couldn't risk losing our ressie and the points were already allocated so DH & I enjoyed the 2 bedroom ourselves. We each had our own bathroom and we were able to keep our luggage and packages on the beds in the second bedroom. Not a great use of points at all, but still our fav. vacation! LOL :rotfl2:

I would keep the two bedroom. You might like having the living room available while your teen sleeps till noon! Mine did that! Disney or not they still stayed up all night and slept in.

I definitely won't drop the 2 BDR unless I find something else we'd be happy with!

Just to clarify what was hinted at above. Even if one has a 2 BR lockoff reserved and you cancel it, that does not mean there will be availability for a 1 BR and a studio. DVCMC decides how many of the L/O units will be broken up into smaller units. Having 2 BR lockoff's available to reserve does not automatically mean there is availability in the smaller units.
