Seriously, this was one of the coolest effects in any theme park. Even the guide seems a little disappointed. It's got this grand door that opens like something out of Harry Potter, with lazers, then it's just a blue tunnel. It's a shame.

This has to be the last straw in the attraction. Ver 2.0 already took a lot of the good effects out and now the best attraction of the entire building.

I worked IOA on the opening team and MANY a time have I been in the building when the vortex stopped working or failed with guest in the tunnel.

The vortex was what made it unique. To just fill it with cheap smoke or mist makes it really usless for return visitors.

I don't know. I was there on 11/24 and it was definitely turned on and working. The 28th was just four days later.

The vortex was at least 50% of the reason to do the attraction,I liked the original show more than the current one but at least the vortex was on for both,now I just don't know,if it's not going to be turned on anymore they should just go ahead and start planning a new attraction for that space!

Some say its part of NBC/Universal's new "Green" Program. I think its one of their dumbest ideas since really, as everyone said, its the best and only worthwhile thing in this attraction (with the new show at least. I still feel lucky I got to see the original one).

WOW it is so sad ... It really was one of the only reasons to walk through the show. It was so cooool to see too . I am dissapointed that they turned it off . Oh well glad I got to see it this summer .

Post Park Syndrome finally hit!

I've been lurking and posting every now and then but not as much as before the October trip.

Lisa's dad was also in town this past week for the Thanksgiving Holiday, so I didn't have as much time to internet surf this past week.

I had read about the "green" reasoning on screamscape, and it doesn't make much sense - how is using the water in the vortex "non-green"? I assume it gets recycled between shows, so it likely consumes less water than an outdoor fountain. Probably even less, since it only runs every 10 minutes or so.

But I agree with the sentiments that it's easily the single best thing in the attraction. Second best thing is the building itself, which you can only see when you're *not* inside the attraction.

The water feature at Poseidon's Fury will be turned off soon, but don't worry it will reopen when they finish construction of Harry Potter. They have a tight budget due to the construction of Harry Potter and the Rockit roller coaster. Poseidon's Fury and Mythos will not be part of the Harry Potter theme park. As for the large building, this is the mountain the castle is going to sit on and they are already laying down track for the ride inside the mountain, possible involving a robotic arm. I can tell you that the track does not go up and down, more like a Spiderman type ride.

don't know if that poster is an employee at the parks.

don't know why he/she stated that info about poseidon's fury in the parry hotter thread.
wonder why harryinfo has not come to this thread yet.

hopefully, what harryinfo stated that the water vortex being off is a temporary thing.

it was one of my fav attractions , cutting corners to save $s is one thing, yet don't think it should be @ expense of one of the integral parts of the ride

for older 'casual' audience who may not be able or interested in riding the coasters (perhaps half-heartedly drug to U by their tweens/teens ) this could be the tipping point as to not returning to U & spending all their $ @ the parks down the road

still think it should be rethemed ala HP-chamber of secrets...would bring the fans in droves...for the HP fans, just think how cool to walk thru the vortex as 'harry' & experience scenes from the books (in more dramatic fashion that proposed castle, etc)

all i want for Xmas is this redo
