Poseidon's closed for refurbishment

Drat! I was looking forward to that, too. Please tell me there aren't going to be a lot more closings between now and the end of August.

I suspect that will be the only one. The other houses are behind Dr. Doom, in ThunderFalls, in Discovery Center, and the other three are in Soundstages. Their construction won't disrupt most activites in the day especially not in August.

Poseidon's Fury closed today (8/19/05) to begin construction for the HHN house and it most likely will not be available again for day guests until after November 15th.

I am very disapointed. I really enjoyed this ride when I have been at Universal. We were planning on going to it right after Mythos! Darn.
Well, 3 more days!

Why is Universal taking away all of their attractions when I'm bringing the family? :sad2:

One less ride/attraction for them to enjoy...

All of them?

What else are they taking away? Thats what I thought.

Seriously though, these things happen and theres nothing anyone can do about it. It could be worse though, they could close down Spiderman, or Hulk (or even Popeyes which they have done in the past for HHN.)

I am going on Monday. Are any other rides closed or closing?

in a way it's bad that they have to close it, but the place is already spooky, imagine what they can do for HHN...wonder if they'll use the vortex?

Slacking, I was exagerating a little. The other attractions I was reffering to are, Ghostbusters, Nick Studios and Discovery trail;
but you are right it could be worse (Spidey, etc.)

Shame. I'll be there very very soon, and I will miss that.

I did like that, especially the vortex.

I assume from that statement, that even during October, the only "day attraction" that will be closed is Poseidon's Fury. I just want to prepare myself so that I won't be disappointed...after all, it will be my first trip to IOA/UO.

I don't think you will have a problem even in October.

Closed attractions are just part of the theme park experience. Especially when visiting a park during the off-season, there is a good chance an attraction will be down. IMO, it isn't worth stressing about, and in the end the attraction is usually down for needed refurbishments (hopefully, they will touch on PF when it is closed for hHN)

Almost every year in October or November, Dudley's closes for a few weeks for refurbishment. I haven't heard anything about it this year, but that is always a possibility.

Tell me about it - I told my DH2B he'd love that last trip (november 03) so we donned our wet clothes - stowed our dry clothes in a locker - $10 for the privilege - then I looked on the map to remember where to head - it wasn't there! I asked a member of staff and they looked at me like I was stupid... I thought is this ride really at this park or have I gone mad!! Then as we walked around we saw it all closed up!

I can understand things have to close for refurbishment but why not just be honest instead of taking htem off the map and pretending they don't exist??

I'm not a great fan of roller coasters and found that in November they closed most of the low thrill attractions - we left after two hours!!

that stinks about poisiden. not one of my favorite rides but it is my sister's first trip and i wanted her to experience everything. oh well

I always liked Poseidon's Fury because it was indoors, cool, and I wasn't being blasted out of a tunnel at 60mph and thrown upside down.

Oh, well. I'll live. ;)

It always seems like the Bilge Raft Barges are closed when we visit...have been for the past two or three years. I need to check and see if they are running this September.

Or maybe they can revert it back to it's original, actually worth seeing version... Hey, I can dream.

i've been to posidon before and liked it, but really pysched that it's going to be part of hhn in a big way.

:teeth:
