Portofino Bay joines AMEX Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts

Got my AMEX Platinum newsletter yesterday and it had a 2/3 page story about the PBH and how it has joined the AMEX Platinum Fine Hotels and Resorts program.

For those not familiar with this program, the hotels that participate give the following amenities when paying the Fine Hotels and Resorts rate:

• Room upgrade at check-in, when available
• Continental breakfast for two each day
• Guaranteed 4:00 PM check-out

And on top of that each hotel provides one additional amenity, which in the case of the PBH is a complimentary lunch for two at the Trattoria del Porto.

They are also running a speacial for stays between May 1 and September 30, 2001 where you get the fifth night free.

The downside is you have to pay the Fine Hotels and Resort Rates, which for the dates of July 2 - July 7 were $260/night for Garden View, $270/night for Bay View, and $288/night for Deluxe Pool View.

Well, the 4:00 PM check out is a big plus ... comp breakfast is worth $20/day or so ... and the lunch is worth maybe $50 ...

We are staying there soon, and are using a Delta SkyMiles AMEX. We're paying $260 for a garden. Does this apply? Would LOVE 4pm checkout. Wonder how I could find out.

Hi,
Just returned from a quick trip to Universal, April 10th- 13th. Stayed at the portofino with Amex Platinum Travel. The breakfast was great,you could upgrade to the full buffet at the Trattoria for $5.00. Only made reservations 1 week before .
Portofino quoted me 330.00 for bay view, Amex PTS,
297.00. I'll be returning the last week of July or the first week in August and Amex quoted me 239.00 per night for deluxe pool view.I'm hoping for an upgrade to a suite. No upgrade was available in April. I believe you have to have a platinum card to be offered the extra amenities.
For those of you who are also Lowes First members,
I was told at booking that I wouldn't get the LF amenities with platinum travel,but they asked me what I wanted when I checked in and I told them milk and cookies . They said they would send them right up and they finally arrived a day later but we certainly enjoyed them!We had a wonderful time.
