Portofino Bay Hotel Check in Times?

What will be the check in times for the PBH in early July? Because I went last year, late July and I heard that check in time was 3:00pm for july last year. When we went to check in, there was many people waiting for rooms in the lobby, but soon as we checked in, we got our room! How did that happen if we didn't request early check-in? And how can we make that happen again?

We cked into the Portofino Bay on 3/11/01. We were told ckin was 3pm. When we finally got up to the registration desk the clerk told us that our room was not ready and would not be ready until 3pm. After she realized it was 3pm, she called housekeeping and said there was a rush on the room & to come back in 30 minutes. We came back in 45 and the room still was not ready. They changed us to another room which she told me was "better". When we got to our room it was not as nice as the room we had reserved. So be careful if they want to switch your room at ckin.
