Portofino 7% Occupancy?

If Portofino is at 7% occupancy, why are hardly any discounts available?

I would love to stay there but $210-240 a night for a garden view room is no incentive for me to travel right now.

The same thing can be said for many Disney Resorts.

Aren't the hotels better off having me there for 50% off rather than an empty room?

I would call the hotel direct. We were there and on a whim at the end of our stay at Hard Rock we walked over to Portofino and were offered any room, Bay view, poolview garden view for $160 a night. They also upgraded for the same rate using our loews card. We stayed there Sept 4-7. I am guessing these rates wont be offered during HHN, when occupancy will be at a high. By the way the $160 rate was not in conjunction with any discount program just something they were offering to anyone. I agree offering discounted rooms would be far better than an empty hotel. I hope they start offering disconts and incentives soon.
