We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Portobello Yacht Club, yesterday. This has been on my list of to try restaurants for a long time. It will soon be renovated along with Pleasure Island. For those not familar with the PI back story, it is the home of the Merriweathers, founders of PI. There is sign by the front entrance that explains the story.
The dining party consisted of myself, DH and DS 13yrs old. My husband had the Seafood Cioppini (Shrimp, scallops, clams, calamari, and fresh fish simmered to perfection with white wine, tomatoes, herbs and a garlic crostini $15.95). I had a taste of this. It was really good. Seafood was fresh.
I had the Wood Roasted Trout. (Oven roasted trout with artichokes, roasted potatoes, kalamata olives and capers in a lemon butter sauce $14.95) This dish had a lot of flavor. I really enjoyed it. My son ordered the pepperoni pizza. Didn't try it. However, it looked like a good pizza with a "fluffy" crust. The server brought out a bread tray at the beginning of the meal. Along with butter, it also included a whole clove of roasted garlic. It was nicely roasted and had a great nutty flavor.
Our server was very attentive and familiar with the food. There were not many dinners during this lunch time. I had a reservation, but we could have just walked in. If you are an annual passholder, you get 20% off of lunch & 10% off dinner. This is a Levy restaurant. If you don't have a Levy points card, ask for one. We got double points for our first visit with the card. Collect 250 points and get a $25.00 gift certificate. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch and we hope that when we visit again, after the remodeling, that it will be just as enjoyable.
