Only a few more days until our magical vacation! My DH and I are going to sneak away for a romantic dinner one night while on our family vacation. I have our choices narrowed down to 2 and now I just need help deciding which one. If you had a choice of either LeCellier or Portobello Yacht Club which would you choose for a romantic dinner for 2 people who love Steak, Italian and Seafood...equally? I've looked at all menus online and even though there are more "romaNtic" places we could go (ex. V&A's) I think the menu at these 2 places are best suited to our tastes...I JUST CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND!!!!! Help!!!!....PLEASE!!

If I were choosing between these two, based on food and romantic atmosphere, and without regard to what else I was doing that day and whether I wanted to see IllumiNations after dinner, I'd pick Portobello Yacht Club.

I see, though, that broader opinion is against me, as the ratings at http://www.wdwinfo.com/ give Le Cellier slightly higher scores.

Portobello YC. LeCellier has good soup and nice steaks, but you can get good steaks at a number of places within WDW. Portobello YC has excellent Italian food. I particularly like the rack of lamb, but YMMV. Another good choice for Italian food is Palio at the Swan (near the Boardwalk), although I prefer PYC by a slight margin.

I was very surprised when I first ate at Le Cellier. It is very small. There are no windows. I loved the food, and thought the steak was perfect. I ordered a filet that I cut with the fork. I love Epcot, and find walking around there to be romantic in itself.

Portobello is great. The roasted garlic is wonderful, but may put a damper on the romance later. I find the food to be overpriced, if not just expensive. Maybe I would re-evaluate that differently this time. It is romantic in that it is on the water, and you could have a nice view. The tables had white table cloths, if I remember correctly. Once we had good service, the next time it was very slow.

I prefer Le Cellier based on my most recent experiences at both. Maybe you could save that dinner until after you've had an opportunity to check out each restaurant. See which you prefer the looks of.

Giving more thought to this, I think I prefer the atmosphere of Portobello to that of LeCellier, but prefer the food of LeCellier.

Don't forget to think about what else you want to do that evening. When we have a night out alone, we like to walk around and stop somewhere for a beer or glass of wine first (like Captain Jack's Oyster House at DD or Germany at Epcot). Or maybe you want to do some shopping or a nice ride in Mexico. Shopping??

Le Cellier probably has better steak, but otherwise, Portobello is the better restaurant, especially for a more "romantic" dinner. And the Italian and Seafood offerings are much better at PYC.
If you decide to go, when making PS ask for John Combs as your server. He also has his own Portobello Web site over at Geocities.com
I can't remember the exact web address tho--.

Recently had a great steak/meal at LeCellier, however it wasn't very romantic. LeCellier is fairly small, thus tables are fairly close which means alot of activity is going on around you.
