Just in case you are planning on going to this restaurant, stay far away and make another choice. This was by far one of the worst meals we have ever had on Disney property. Just gonna leave it at that.

this is the disboards....you can't just leave it at that :lmao:

Really...please share!

OP, I would love for you to share what happened.

We have been there three times the service was great and the food was delicious. But, on one visit my food came with something extra, a large piece of plastic. It was thicker than plastic wrap but looked similar to it. When I showed the server he had a manager come over to speak with me. I was comped my entree and offered a new one but I had already eaten most of it and was already full so I declined any more food. I was told it was a cover they use when preparing the food in the morning and it souldn't have landed on my plate. They apologized and I was fine with how it was handled because the meal was so ggod! Anyway the last time we went, Aug 2010 my DH and I got so ill after eating there. Now there is no way to know if it was actually from Portobello but I can't bring myself to ever go back again.

I'd like more details also. We're trying it next month for the first time. We don't use a dining plan, so I was thinking of ordering multiple appetizers & dessert. They appear to have a great appetizer menu. My DH will probably want an entree too, so I'm also curious about those.

CoolDisneyKitten, please come back & share your experience with us too. :)

Really?? What was wrong?
We ate there in october, and december...both times were fantastic. The service was a tad slow the first time, but the food made up for it.

We've had a lovely meal at Portobello before, and the "slow" service really wasn't a problem for us. We don't like to be rushed in and out in 40 minutes, and compared to restaurants in the U.K it's really not bad at all.

Maybe they just had an off night? More info?

My DW ordered the Mercato Pizza, which this day was pesto chicken over mozz and tomato sauce. They claim wood fired pizza, but this seemed more like a frozen Totino's pizza from your grocer's freezer. The crust had hint of freezer burn taste. Now we have a brick oven pizzaria we visit often where we live and this pizza was not even close. And for a crust this thin it should have been lite and a little cripsy, instead it was doughy and floppy.
I ordered a large ceaser salad(special request) add grilled chix. The chix was ice cold right out of the fridge and I'm sure pre-sliced. How hard is it to grill a chix breast with some seasoning, cut it on the bias and put on top of a salad. The ceasar dressing was bland with very little bite from the anchovies the waitress claimed it was made with. The bread rolls that were served with our meal were also cold, like they had been sitting out for a while, almost like day old bread. Now, I understand the difference in hard crusty rolls with a chewy texture and these were not that. The best thing ordered was our sons meatball sliders and even they were not hot when served, more just warm. Just overall a poor dining experience and I will never go back.

Wow, ok. That's certainly crummy, but I'm actually really relieved. From the title of the thread, I thought you'd found a dead rat in your food or seen someone spit in your pasta or something!

Honestly, I'd give Portobello another try on a future trip. It sounds like they had an off night.

We ate here in 2008. The food was disgusting, cold and way over priced. The service was dreadful.

It was the only Disney we hated.

Ate there last June, I had the pasta Bolognese, My son and 3 friends had the chicken with bowties (cream sauce w/ peas etc.), 2 of the other boys had cheese pizza and our friends shared gnocci's with a sauce and calimari. Service a bit slow but I don't mind that when I'm relaxing at dinner after a long day at the park. I prefer it to being rushed. The food was hot and it was good, no complaints! We would eat there again.

I was tempted to try the osso bucco, maybe next time!

Wow - that is terrible.
My husband and I ate there for the first time in January and we had a great waiter and thought the food was good. I got the spaghetti pomodoro.

I was hoping to there again in May.
