portable gps - can you wear them in the race?

We just got a garmin 305. Can my DH wear it on his wrist for the Disney races? Specifically the Tower of Terror in October.

HI neighbor! I'm in Cincinnati as well. Wore my Garmin for the Princess--no problems!! Wish I could do the Tower of Terror race this year. Gotta head to NY for a family function that weekend instead. Maybe next year...

We're on the east side! The TOT is the first disney race we've ever done. We just started into walking/jogging about a month ago so it will be interesting. I figure I can walk more during it if necessary and am just aiming to finish. TOT is the day after my DH's 40th birthday!
